Title: Spectre Saber Orders
Post by: NegativeVector on April 04, 2021, 12:35:14 AM
So I'm a rookie Saber buyer and had a general question for people who have ordered the
Spectre Saber. First off, let me say that I can't wait to get my hands on this saber and
all the pictures I've seen look great! I placed an order for this 4 weeks ago and was sent
an email saying 3 to 4 weeks for fabrication. At the end of the 4 weeks, I emailed to check
on the status, and I was sent with an email now stating 8 to 10 weeks for the hilts to
come in from the manufacturer. My question is for people who have ordered the Spectre,
"How long has it taken for you to get your blade?" I'm kind of just looking for an
average to get an idea of how long this is going to take, I would have expected an email
sent to me updating my wait time since it's now at least tripled. Don't get me wrong, I'm
still excited to get it, but the wait is killing me  :D

Around 6 months for mine in 2020. 3-4 weeks is their generic lead time right now (if you're lucky enough to order something in stock, you'll get their previous lead times which where around 1-2 days for building and then shipping time).
Because of covid, they have trouble getting all the hilts they need. And they are sent to them by batches. Not automatically covering their needs. So some people have to wait longer for the same hilt, if they ordered after someone that was the end of the batch they got.
So, whenever you want to order something you can shoot an email right away asking for the actual lead time of this specific hilt.

I'm waiting since May 2020. Looks like the Spectre hilt with engravings is the problem, because I got an offer to cancel the engravings to get the saber built within 24 hours. This was at the middle of 2020. I decided to wait, because new hilts should be available within 6 weeks and I had already waited for some months at this time. Well, the announced dates have been moved several times since then. Next possible date should be mid April 2021 (stated February 2021). We will see...

Wait... I ordered mine in july and got it in december. With engravings. What did you order inside? Cause there might be an issue here too...

Hilt with engravings and windows, Obsidian V4, Blue Violet Amethyst with Quick Disconnect - Nothing special, I would say.

Mmh. I went for engravings and windows, emerald obsidian v4. I don't know. That's still strange.

Thanks for the replies! My order was for one without engravings, with windows, basic sound.
From what I read, it was the engravings that were the hold up for a while, but idk.
I've been given the "different choice" option twice, but to be honest, the ones they offered
don't appeal to me, so waiting it is.

Funny enough, yesterday I asked about the status of my order and today I got a tracking mail from FedEx.
To be honest, I got a response just some hours after I have send them my mail: The Spectre has had already been reserved but the Butcher had still problems. So I was able make a little upgrade to get the Butcher ready to built too.

That's good news!

So as an update, still waiting on my spectre.  I ordered the spectre without engravings in February,
but have been offered one, same set up with engravings with a 2-3 day shipping time. Otherwise,
they don't expect the others till August at earliest. I'm really not a big fan of the
circuit board look but I'm feel like I can't wait lol. If I get the engraved one, I'm going
to look at customizing it, maybe with something like tape for baseball bats to just cover the circuits.
I've seen lots of cool customizations on here and my question for anyone reading this is:
"Do you have any ideas or suggestions for covering the circuits?"

So finally got my Spectre and I'm really happy with it!
I decided to try my hand at customization to cover the
circuit look. I went with a leather patch that has adhesive on
one side that is typically used for furniture etc.
Seemed to get good reviews for durability and
ended up being easy to work with. I don't know how it would
hold up for people who use their blades for combat, but for
displaying, it looks really good. Mine's a little rough as it's
my first time working with these patches. I went with a
dark blue leather since the blade is blue. I'll try to get
better picts with better lighting when I get a chance.

Nice choice. I suggest you use the ultra-edge heavy blade for heavy dualing. As long as you don't hit something like metal or drop it on a stone, it's durability will hold true.

Speaking of baseball, Adidas 3 stripe life gloves work magnificently for it's grip and protection from sharp control box, led screw, and pommel blocks.

It's amazing. Definitely one of my absolute favorite sabers.

I decided ... to cover the circuit look.
this saddens me - dark side points incoming.  :'(
