I think a lot of this will be the beginning of a trilogy as long as it fairs well in the theaters. Looks from what I've seen and read that they put a lot of thought and time into this so I'm looking forward to it.  My favorite storyline is between Scorpion and Subzero but I look forward to seeing all characters in this movie

And although this looks like it may be Subzero teleporting or showing up somewhere, it got me excited since I thought it was Smoke, one of my favorite characters from the series aside from Scorpion and Subzero

I've never really been a fan of Liu Kang or Kung Lao.
I generally like Kitana and Mileena. Sonia's ok.
I like D'vorah on the last one I played. Frost was nice too...
I'm down for multiple movies if it holds true to their vision and history wise.

The Director has said if he can he would like to make a film solely focusing on Johnny Cage.

Mileena is Kitana's evil twin so that would be cool to see Kitana in this movie but I have a feeling that they may not introduce her until the next film.

Smoke and Sub Zero grew up as best friends and are both in the Lin Keui Assassin Clan who are the enemy of Scorpion.  He gets turned into a cyborg like a few in the clan (who were chosen as the best warriors to get converted into cyborgs), but retains his soul (he founds out later with the help of Sub Zero), and is ordered to hunt down his best friend. This would be a cool back story or a spin off movie for the Lin Keui Clan and all the warriors that are part of it past, current, and future

The Shirai Ryu (Japanese) ninja clan and the Lin Kuei (Chinese) clan being enemies alone can have their own trilogy.  It appears that this version of Sub Zero is Bi-Han which is the Sub Zero that Scorpion gets slain by.  If that's the case, then they may introduce Kuai Liang in future movies especially if Bi-Han dies and gets turned into Noob Saibot.

Which does make me wonder about the plot.  I saw it confirmed somewhere that the scene of Hanzo (Scorpion) defending his Village does take place in the 16th century.  So if it follows that Bi Han kills him and faces him again 500 years later...what deal did Bi Han make and with who (Shang Tsung, Shinnok, Quan Chi) for extended Life.

Not really no. But to be fair it's half due to the first movie... Other half is that I find the character... Lacking. Underwhelming.
It's not my least favorite I guess. But still in the bottom.

He was never my favorite (Scorpion has that honor) but he was a necessary addition to the three main Earthrealm warriors I thought.  Liu Kang of course was The Chosen One and had trained for Mortal Kombat almost his whole life.  Sonya being Spec Ops was trained to focus on the mission no matter what oddness was going on around her.  But Johnny was the "Everyman" wondering (along with the Audience) wtf is going on. 

But are you old enough to remember where they got the inspiration?

The 9th game was a reboot of the characters back stories and some of them changed drastically. The tenth game was the children of combatants add into the story. The newest game... number 11... well, it jumped the shark. Time travel...  I never did finish the story mode for that game.


Most people hate Armageddon because you didn't have the regular fatalities. I liked it regardless. Mk cart racing! Make your own character.  I loved it.
