Title: Deciding between two hilts Post by: nunya on September 14, 2021, 04:42:55 PM i am looking to replace one of my hilts and give that one to family. i plan to purchase empty hilt and add my own components - either use the guts from my diamond saber or all new. i also want to option to make a pixel build.
below is a list of positives (+) and negatives (-) for each with some unknowns/assumptions/questions but i suspect i am lacking on some info and other details. i am seeking help from the forum members. (https://i.imgur.com/e4qbD7w.png) Electrum Wind +gold! +switch higher on hilt +(p)leather grip sections +close to inspiration +removable emitter piece +available now - it was sold out for about a year +/-hilt specific covertec wheel -not much room for more holes near the emitter (for switches, securing PCB) -not sure how to secure PCB -screws/holes visible in grip section (is it a removable shroud? if so, what does it look like underneath?) -grips lower than canon -concerned about how grip sections are held in place (will they fall off over time) -concerned about weathering/fading/peeling of the (p)leather sections (https://i.imgur.com/GBePdwR.png) Guardian +nickel plating option! +pommel is distinctive +able to modify to pixel easily +room for more switches +very close to inspiration -more expensive (due to nickel plating) -unsure about drilling through nickel plating/shroud Title: Re: Deciding between two hilts Post by: DarthRondoudou on September 14, 2021, 06:33:36 PM I love Mace Windu's hilt. I love OWK's first hilt.
I probably won't buy the electrum wind. It's too far from canon for my tastes. Can't really help you on the natural weathering of this hilt. I do own the nickel plated Guardian AND I LOVE IT!!!! I'm crazy about that particular hilt. It's totally worth the money. it answers the question about the grip - it is anodized metal.
