Just so you guys know, I was just on GameStop.com and they had the Old Republic available for pre-order. With a release date of 1/2/2012! So it seems as though it's been pushed back AGAIN.

Jeeeeeeze. This is getting ridiculous.

Actually, Gamestop has had that posted for quite some time. I would guess sometime in the summer it will be ready

Hopefully that means more time to ADD more SW and remove some of the WoW [but not the Wow!] rather than vice versa. The Force is not 'magic'; just say NO to Jedi 'wizards'! grrrr

Agreed. A MMORPG will never really be finished. There will always be refinements to be made. I wonder what the overall response from beta testers are so far. I'm sure they have all agreed to a no-disclosure type of agreement.

The videos look cool. They just released a bounty hunter class video. Very nice.

As far as I have been able to discern a lot of people are predicting it to release this summer. I think however that we might not see it until November.

I am willing to bet that e3 will announce the release date and start open beta.

The game is unlikely to be released anywhere around November due to the release of many big gametitles, (Uncharted 3, Metal GearSolid Rising, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed 3-UNCONFIRMED.) That is November alone. In December you have games like BioShock 3, Guild Wars 2, GTA 5, Final Fantasy XIV, Modern Warfare 3, LoTR: War in the north, Battlefield 3 and Diablo III.

I don't think I need to say more to point out it's unlikely for a release in the winter-period of 2011, marketing-wise.

I'm itching for this game to be released too.  Although if you think about games like KOTOR 2 which was released early and was subsequently somewhat of a disappointment due to it being unfinished, maybe it's a good thing.

I can sympatize with everyone who is upset about the release date. I have been following the game ever since it was first announced but I would rather Bioware and Lucasarts take the necessary time to work out all the bugs so we have a finely tuned game to play. That's just my opinion about it, but I would love to see it come sooner. I guess that with my job I just learn alot of patience haha.

Though this release may be legitimate, I some how doubt it.  God knows there have been delays on TOR, and there will probably be more to come, but I can tell you from personal experience (having worked at Gamestop for over a year a few years ago) , that I have seen Gamestop's release dates fluctuate all over the place before an actual date is picked.  My estimation is that 1/2/2012 is probably Gamestop's best guess.  Let's hope they guessed wrong  :-\

The gamestop release date is NOT accurate. Gamestop takes pre orders ( I already got mine) before release dates are announced and put a date far in the future as a placeholder.

i really hope this game doesn't turn out like duke nuke'em forever because if it does between that and KOTOR 2 TFU 2 and all the clone wars carp i may lose faith in star wars games

The gamestop date is more than likely a placeholder, don't trust anything unless it actually comes from Bioware. Personally I'm beginning to feel like we're going to see it come out in 2018 when they're done with the re-releases of the SW in 3D. (Not really but this is getting to be idiotic, 4 gorgeous CGI videos in and still no whiff of a release date)

Yeah I agree, this delay is killing me.  Although on the bright side, it's giving me time to save up for a new laptop, which I will likely need to play the game!  Artorius and I are itching to play it.

Yeah, I bought a brand new Desktop (cost me about a $1,000) just for this game, I wish at the very least, that they would release the specs so that we can know for sure if our computers are up to snuff  :-\

My tech skills are severely lacking here folks, so just bare with me ;)........  I am currently under the belief that, an MMO, runs primarily off of a external (to your PC) server (probably their main building in Austin), instead of running primarily off your pc's hardware.  I was told this, and believed it to be true due to the following..........  For an MMO to be successful (such as the currently dominant WOW), it must be accessible to as many people as possible, so that it can have a large base and a fairly constant revenue stream coming in.........  In other words, you don't have to have an "Alien Ware PC" to play your favorite MMO........

I had a laptop a year or so back and I played WOW on it just fine (and this computer DID NOT play many PC games well).  If I am correct in my belief, it would make since so that, Bioware and Lucas Arts could get as many people playing their game as possible, and not cut it down to only those fortunate few that have PC's powerful enough to play games such as "Crysis 2"

No, you're right. To be successful, an MMO MUST have things like quality graphics, sound, and playability while being accessible to as many players as possible. Just think how boring WOW would be, if you had to be on a higher end Alien Ware computer to even have any thing close to a decent playing experience. Even people who DO have those computers wouldn't play, because it wouldn't be much fun, and it would get shut down in a matter of months.

they are specifically designing the game and the graphics to look good on computers that are not "high end" They are doing this for the reasons you say, it would be sad if they needed a super computer to run it at all.

An mmo runs primarily off of your pc. and the pc of others who play the game. you send data of what you are doing to the server and the server sends that info to all others you play with or who are around you. the graphics etc are all on your pc. it is the info that is sent to the server and back that is on the mmo servers. this is why in raids you can get lag because the server is taking your info and sending you the info of how ever many players. sometimes your computers upload/download time may slow down. In essence the server is a relay for data between players, nothing more.

Okay Good :)  This Is Good To Know and (as we have said) Just Makes Good Common Since ;)  God knows I don't have the money for an Alien Ware, and if an MMO required that, IT WOULD BE THE SINGLE MOST BORING GAME ON THE MARKET  :-\......................... (they're would probably only be about 10 people playing on it lol)

Where as in KOTOR I you cap out at 20  :'( , I have never capped out in KOTOR II (I think it's 50) , this last time I beat the game I was a lvl 45 by the end (and that's because I exploited the Korriban Tomb Glitch)

Some of the Glitches are actually A LOT OF FUN  ;D (for example:  Duplicate Lightsaber, Super Lightsaber, Infinite Components, etc.......)

The Story in KOTOR I IS FAR SUPERIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!  but as far as gameplay.......... I've got to give it to KOTOR II  :-\..................  sorry folks, I know it's blasphemy, but I've never been one to put aside what I believe just because it's not a popular widely held belief.............  I Ain't No Lemming ;)

Well, I didn't had to buy a new computer to have a good one for TOR : a 3 year old Mac Book Pro. Kind of a really nice thing that can run Oblivion nicely. But then, the fall. My Mac Book Pro blew up. Graphic card issues : all is running but the screen. And I can tell you that without screen, it's really hard to do anything ;)

So yeah, tomorrow I will have a new one. 'cause my 3-years-old fellow deserve its retirement. I will try to make it repaired (100% took by Apple, 'cause its a fabrication issue, if I have understood what they told me.) so that I will give it to one of my sisters that haven't got a computer.

But I will have a killer one ;D

So yeah, TOR in maximum on everything : my head will blow up when it will be playable.

Well, I personally think that it's not trustable.

For one simple reason : the NDA signed by ALL those who have informations on TOR.

If this actor has told something that can break the NDA, he will have some little problems on a legal aspect with Bioware and EA.

And "before Christmas" is quite vague. Especially when Bioware has said that the game will be released for the 2nd half of 2011.

Two weeks from now is before Christmas ;)

This game will be good or Bioware is done but Bioware has a high precedent and I feel like we will get a good game hopefully there is a flat fee of like $300 because I really can't pay $15 monthly it would bankrupt me and would add up way to fast. Also anybody who really thinks they need a special computer for gaming you can find a decent gaming computer on Amazon for around $500 that is cheap all of alien wares stuff is like $1500 plus but you pay for quality. So I suggest buy this $500 computer then instead of buying a huge $1000 monitor buy a $6 HDMI CABLE AND HOOK THE PC UP TO YOUR TV. Problem solved if you have a good tv that is ;)

i just hope 2 things 1 that it doesnt have a monthly fee and if it does really cheap like 7 bucks or somethin (kinda like how xbox live used to be) and 2 that they dont do effing KOTOR style combat.  I don't believe in buying a game then having to pay more money every month/year just to play it, so unless there is a normal game mode with it I won't be getting it.  That being said I am still having fun reading the comics that go with the game.

Hell, they could put it on the PS3 for sure if they wanted to (there is a attachment for a mouse and keyboard for the PS3, that I saw at movie trading company just the other day), wouldn't be hard at all, and you could enjoy the game from the comfort of your couch (well maybe that's not a good thing...... I know several of the bioware people play tor on macs, but they may have said something about needing something to run it. I will try and find the quote.

But in all seriousness...  Whenever Possible, I Would Have To Say That It Is About A BILLION TIMES Better of an Experience Playing A PC Game on a MAC Compared to a PC... ;)

If you have a relatively up to date MAC, it's nearly like putting a XBOX 360 game into a XBOX 360 ;) (You Don't Have To Worry About Graphics Cards, and RAM, and All The Other Headaches That Go Hand In Hand With PC Gaming...) 

It's just too bad these companies can't get their signals straight.  I've been back and forth with Amazon.com and they assure me that they have a Mac Compatible version of the game and that I pre-ordered it.  Go to swtor.com and it says plain as day "Windows only" in the FAQs.  I sent them an email now and will have a final word.  At any rate I'll probably end up boot camping my MBP so I can play if it comes to that, but I'd rather keep to native system unadulterated.

The release date haven't been announced. It's scheduled for "Holidays 2011". On the official forum it's hoped for September through December, with lot of people thinking of October.

Personally, I think that will be : Announce of release date : Mid-August or Mid-September for a release date around Mid/End-September or Mid/End-October ;)

I hate when my computer won't let me watch something...it was pausing so much it took 7 minutes to view 1 minute of the program...got pissed and left the site.  I can't wait to move so I can start using DSL again.

I have been sucking these vids down like n addict. I watched over 4 hours of video this weekend alone lol. that does not include the few hours of videos analyzing those videos and other info.

It's not just this site and videos, it's like almost all of them I want to see...very frustraiting.  I just hope it is just a result of the AT&T aircard that I am using.
