There are other mounts and displays littered throughout this thread, I just selected the primary ones from the original sticky threads - some useful information in there, some less useful - worth a puruse if you're looking for any display ideas - also feel free to contribute new display ideas to this thread if you like.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________
So over the past couple of months I got three ultrasabers and after playing with them for a long while I realized I had no efficient way of displaying them in my room. After  long hours of spinning or dueling against my younger siblings I would just lean them  against the corner  wall of my room, but that just didn't do the sabers justice. Plus the blades of the sabers could possibly start to warp/bend from being leaned against a wall constantly day after day. I've seen people use pool cue racks, but I prefer to display my sabers without the blade to save space and with only three sabers I would have a lot of empty space in the rack.

So I decided that I needed a stand and began my search, but to no avail. All my searches from custom saber stand makers from other forums, ebay and esty gave me prices that were far to much for me to justify buying. The cheapest custom stand for a single saber I found was $25 plus shipping and the cheapest stand i found was a Master replicas/hasbro stand for $15 , but they are hard to come by and I needed three of those to display my sabers properly. So 3x 25= $75 plus shipping for readily available saber stands which is way to much money in my opinion that could be used for buying sabers or if I got lucky and snagged  three Master replicas/hasbro stands from ebay for $45 plus shipping. Either way the odds and money of getting stands were not in my favor.  :( That is until i was walking around walmart today in the cooking utensil section and saw a spice rack stand that called to me and told me.

"Make me into a lightsaber stand!"

So I did.. :D

What you need from walmart. All items cost about $5 to $6 depending on your walmart.
Spice rack stand http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-3-Tier-Bamboo-Cabinet-Organizer/16456523 (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-3-Tier-Bamboo-Cabinet-Organizer/16456523)
2 packs of sticky chair leg pads http://www.walmart.com/ip/Waxman-Felt-Pads/17474455 (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Waxman-Felt-Pads/17474455) OR 2 packs of sticky picture tabs http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bulldog-Hardware-Picture-Tabs-12pk/17474345 (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bulldog-Hardware-Picture-Tabs-12pk/17474345)

Now I bought both to see which would work better. you only need one type or the other, but they both work fine. I prefer the sticky picture tabs though since they are clear.  :)

-If you bought the Chair leg pads cut them in half with a pair of scissors or a razor blade, whatever you have that's sharp. Remove the sticky plastic backing and place them on the spice rack with the round side facing inward.

-If you bought the sticky picture tabs, the pack has big and little triangles.Remove the sticky plastic backing and  stack the smaller triangles on top of the bigger triangles as shown in my pictures.

Note. You will need only two stacks of chair pads or sticky triangles  on the first two rows of the stand. While you need four at the third and highest step to prevent the saber from falling back wards.
In my pics below i show both being used.
Stand laying on its back
Stand from the side
Stand from the front
Sabers being displayed.  8)

Red, Blue, Green stop light. Ha!

Extra pics of the stuff i used.
Chair pads next to plastic triangle pad

Sticker from the spice stand

And thats it :)

Though granted the stand looks a little plain. I will try to experiment with paint some time later this month. I will see where it takes me and will post my results.[/s]  8)

Finished painting the stand black yesterday. I used Krylon gloss black paint from walmart.just make sure you do light coats over a long period of time I over did it on one part of the stand so i had to sand it and redo it again. Patience will help the paint job come out nice!

I can't really expand on that.

It's an awesome piece and really compliments the sabers.

Point Boss.

The ingenuity on this forum never fails to amaze me and you just ramped it another level.  A spice rack into a lightsaber stand.  Forget Martha Stewart, give Big Boss the show.

Nice. I'm going to get the same thing. Thanks for the idea BigB. Though I might keep mine the natural look and maybe paint the clear pieces black. I will have 3 sabers soon so this'll come in handy for displaying. Though do they have a 4 part stand instead of 3?

Title: Vertical lightsaber display tutorial
Post by: JdiKnhtJMH on September 11, 2012, 09:04:29 AM
Got a lot of sabers and finding it hard to display them on the stands? I have a great fix for that!

Step 1)Get a plank of wood and finish it with your favorite paint, I picked black.

Step 2) Buy some 1 1/2 inch keyrings. You can get a huge pack on ebay for 5 dollars or elsewhere around the net. Key rings (https://www.google.com/search?q=1+1%2F2+inch+keyrings&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=rcs#hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=wkq&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=rcs&tbm=shop&sa=X&ei=TT9fULjGAYXaqQHL74HwCA&ved=0CHAQBSgA&q=1+1/2+inch+key+rings&spell=1&fp=1&biw=1760&bih=793&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&cad=b&sei=hEBfUInABMPq2QXMmoHICg)

Step 3) Using a staple gun(With adult supervision if your too young to use tools.)  Secure the rings with 3 staples each to your board with 1 inch or so between each ring. Then just secure it to the wall with 3 nails or more depending on size and slip your sabers into the rings.

All in all this shouldn't cost you more than 20 bucks and will display all your sabers vertically (which is the best way to have them) and lets you see all of them at once. Heres some pics

 8)  8)  8)  Pretty colors!  8)  8)  8)

You'll notice new editions there, I traded my red aeon for two Darth Maul sabers which are now Ultrafx.

UPDATE:  PB pics removed.  :)

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, if anyone else decides to build one let me know how it looks. One thing I did on this which I think I should point out for other saber addicts: Even though my collection's complete, I left space for one or two more sabers... Just in case US comes out with the Ahsoka Tano model I designed.

Hey, half of mine have stands.... I just need to build another stand for the Phantasm, Vader, Flash, Halcyon, and Wild Horse.... XD

Seriously, this is a great way to display with blades though, and it looks pretty sick to boot. BTW.... how in the HECK did you trade a BR Aeon for a Maul Staff? Even unconverted.... Aeon musta been a V3 with sound. Either way, nice trade man. That's an impressive addition to your already impressive collection.

LOL all those stands take up a lot of shelf space going horizontal, you should definitely look at this as an option.

I put the rings to hold the sabers a bit lower than I should have. If you put them nearer to the top of the board you can barely tell they're there.

The aeon was just a normal US aeon, but what I did was purchase a converted Darth Maul off ebay for 100 dollars somehow (people on ebay really have no diea what a converted lightsaber is worth, I was the only bidder on it!) Then I got a darth maul for free from a friend who wasnt using it anymore, then I sold my Aeon on ebay as a saber staff, and the money I made from that paid for the LED for my friend's darth maul and a new coupler. Bit of a complicated plot, but it worked well.

Ah. I see. An excellent string of dealing there, JMH.

BTW, my saber rack is actually a vertical one. Made from wood and mounted on the wall, with a cradle for each hilt. I leave my blades propped up in the corner. ;) Here's a really old picture of it, before I had enough sabers to fill it. lol

Interesting, I like the idea of displaying just the hilts, but I dont know if thats an option for me lol plus I like to have them ready for battle at all times.

Title: Re: My handy dandy budget space saving saber holder

Well I'll say this, your design is way easier to build and way easier to add on to. Mine was built for 5, and that's all she'll ever hold. Now I have 12. One of those 12 has a separate stand. Another has a case. I still have 5 hilts laying around places. lol

Give this thing a try and let me know how it goes and what colors you pick, its well worth it and you can just grab the rings on ebay, or in an art and craft store for nothing. With 10 or more its well worth it to display them assembled and vertical like this.

Title: Single Saber Stand Tutorial
Post by: Eiyame on September 25, 2012, 05:10:21 AM
MOD NOTE: There were some broken photo links that had to be repaired, so apologies if there is any inconvenience or confusion. I THINK they're all set right now. ;) Eiyame's wonderful Tutorial starts below.=/\= Moderator Manroon

This is how to make a stand for a single lightsaber stand, similar to the ForceFX stands.

You will need....

2 - 1/4" x3 1/2" Tool Hooks with Protective Vinyl Coating
1 - 6" x 14" Pine Innkeeper Signboard
1 - 2 FL OZ Ceramcoat Black Acrylic Paint
1 - 11 OZ Krylon Crystal Clear Finish
1 - Size 10 or bigger Paint Brush
1 - Pack of Felt Pads

Optional Supplies

1 - 2 FL OZ Ceramcoat Purple Acrylic Paint (Sub out for whatever color  you want)
1 - Size 4  Paint Brush
1 - Size 0  Paint Brush

Other stuff

Newspaper
Water
Plate to pour your paint on
Pencil
Ruler
Duck Tape
Fine Grit Sandpaper

Where to get Supplies (USA)
Remember these are just rough numbers check your local store for pricing.

-Home Depot-

Tool Hooks- $1 each
Krylon Crystal Clear Finish - $6

-Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store-

Innkeeper Signboard - $8
Ceramcoat Paint - $1.50
Paint Brushes - $6-$8 for set or you can buy them in singles
Felt Pads - $3-$5

Since I do a lot of crafting, I had the paint and brushes even the Krylon already. Your cost might be different depending on your local store and what you already have. I know most of us have a paint brush or two lying around.

My Total Cost:

$15

Tutorial:

Now that you have all your supplies, get some news paper to cover your work area. Just because this is water based acrylic doesn’t mean you can't make a big mess with it.

Make sure you gather all your stuff up BEFORE starting that way you know where it is.

You can sand down your Sign if you want, I didn't but you can.

1. Lay on your base coat of black paint and let dry. Repeat if needed for better coverage. Watch that it doesn't stick to the newspaper.

2. Once TOTALLY DRY, flip over and do the same thing to the bottom.

3. Let dry really well before moving on to step 4

4. Add detail if you wish. I added purple detailing.

5. Again LET DRY OVER NIGHT (I will explain why in a bit)

6. Figure out where you want to place your tool hooks. Mark with pencil and ruler to make sure they are square(ish) to each other. I placed mine center about 2 inches from the ends.

7. You can pre drill holes if you want, but you can also just muscle them into place like a real force user. I just screwed them in without pre drilling the holes; it wasn't hard.

8. Once you got your tool hook holes in take them out, and touch up your paint job if need and let it dry really good. I put mine outside in the sun for about 30mins.

9. Take your stand outside, don't be stupid and do it in your house. Its spray paint, it smells and can be messy. Cover anything you don't want to get spray paint on.

10. Spray both sides of your stand. CAREFULLY! Hold can about 12" away form your stand. Meaning do what it says on the back of the can.

*If you don’t' let the stand dry overnight and/or hold the can about 12" away you might end up with a odd rainbow effect or even make the acrylic run and spot. MEANING BECAREFUL

If you want to add another coat do so after letting the first one dry for about 10-20 minutes.

11. Let the stand dry 1 HOUR, OR 30mins in 75-80 degree weather.

12. After an hour you can go ahead and replace the tool hooks, and wrap the exposed metal with duck tape (I used purple) to finish the look and cover the sharp edges of the screw.

13. Now go ahead and put the pads on the bottom.

Alright there you are down now.

You can sub out the black for any color you want. But I like black because it goes where everything.

NOTE ON THE TOOL HOOKS: One will need to be a bit higher than the other if you want your saber to sit level with its blade on.

~Helpful Tips~

-Paint Brushes-

Buying a good set of paint brushes is a good idea. A really nice set can run you $20+ BUT they will last for years if you take care of them.

Never wash your paint bushes in warm or hot water. Use cold. This will make sure you will not melt the glue they use to help hold the bristles of the brush in.

Wash your paint brushes right after use. This will make sure you will get 98%-100% of the paint out. The longer it sits the harder it will be to get out.

Using a cup of water, to soak your brushes is fine, but don't let them sit too long. You can permanent bend your brushes that way, and loosen the glue.

When washing your brushes never scrub the bush. Gently run the bush over your hand like your painting and then gently squeeze the brush in-between two fingers to get the paint out of it.

Dry your brushes flat or wrong end down in a cup. Don't put them in bush end first. This will bend your brush.

If you brush gets ratty ends, you can take a pair of very sharp shares and trim the ends.

Pay attention to what size of brush you are using and use the right tool for the job. Don't try and use a large brush like a number 10 when trying to do fine detail painting

-Paint-

Acrylic is very forgiving, and gives rich colors. Also its water based meaning if you end up dumping the whole bottle on yourself it will come out with a washing or two (just don't dry it).

Sometimes it will take more than one coat to cover and give rich coloring. Because wood really likes to soak up paint.

Sometimes the cheaper paint isn't the better. If you have a question about what paint to get talk to a employee that works in that part of the store and tell them about your project they can help point you in the right direction.

Take it slow if you are painting with Acrylic for the first time, go slowly and learn how the paint likes to go on whatever it is your painting. That way when you get to the details you know better what size of bush to use and how the paint will go on.

Oil paints are great but if your just starting out with painting not a great idea. They do give sweet coloring BUT they take forever to dry and don't come out of clothing, or sofas.

-Other Stuff-

Painters tape is nice. But not a fix all. You will have to go back and clean up your lines, even with using blue painters tape.

Take your time on projects. They will come out better in the end for it.

Just becuase this tutorial is up on the forum doesn't mean you are being forced to use it.

Most people who customize sabers have 90% of this stuff laying around anyway. So word of advice, read the forum rules and don't be a jerk about it.

I made this becuase some forum members expressed an interest in such a thing. If you don't care for it don't post to it, and don't use the tutorial.

And for your information, buying a stand like this can run between $60-$80+ on ebay. And those are the plastic ForceFX ones; if you can even find them.

So I kindly ask you, don't be rude.

Apology accepted. Just be careful on how you word things from now on, OK? Because it came off a little rude, becuase people take things at face value around here. So just clarify things next time, so people don't get upset. A joke is only a joke if everyone finds it funny.

Fantastic tutorial! Though i would probably use spray paint rather than paint brushes since i have alot of that lying around, but you use what you have I guess. You know whats funny is when i was coming up with my saber stand idea I saw the very same sign board at the walmart art/crafts section and thought about making it into a stand too, but decided against it since i couldn't think of a way to hold up the saber. Now that I see you using tool hooks I'am smacking my head thinking "thats what i could have used!"  :D So now the stand tutorial cycle is now complete!

Thanks, I had this idea hit me about 2am; when most of my good ideas hit. My first idea called for just a simple 1x4" but I like this better it has a more finished look.

I find that for beginner crafters water based acrylic paint is easier and a lot less messy but if you are comfortable with spray paint by all means go for it. Its not foam so it wont melt when coming in contact with the spray paint.

Thanks for the sticky. :)

I think I actually have most of these tools already, although instead of sign board I might use the oblong tree trunk slice I have with a wood burner and clear lacquir I think with this tutorial will look sweet  ;D

Thanks for sharing 8)

I know most people have a lot of this stuff laying around the house, and the tool hooks you can find at any hardware store, I just like Home Depot. But as for the tree trunk that will look cool if you can get the lacquer finish smooth ( I never can so I have given up). Post up pics when you get it done, I want to see.

I really love this idea! I'm gonna make one using black like you did, but then trim it in gold paint to display my Aeon LE V3. Fantastic walk-through! Point for you :)

I'm glade you like the tutorial. Just when your painting on the gold band take it slow and you will need to touch up with black after. And thanks for the point. :)

Cool Idea, But ill stick with my traditional Katana Stands

To each his own, that's why its called free choice. But I find the katana stands overly costly, so for me this was cheaper.

i like how you used the pine signboard for the base. i may try to make one this weekend but instead of the "Y" hooks , i think i have some deer antlers around the garage and incorporate it into the holder for the saber. great idea , thanks for the tutorial, point earned.

So I figured I would post an image of my stand in use.

This is where I spend my time when I'm not behind the sewing machine.

Yes, I'm a Minecrafter, that's all my homemade Minecraft Props.

Yes that's my libby, all freshly polished and sitting on its new stand.

Yes, I'm a PC and yes that's a Minecraft background (just changed it from my Jedi Temple background :P )

Yes that's an xbox 360.

I thought of that. But I have enough holes in my walls as is, and honestly the only open wall space I have is above my closet and I have 9 foot ceilings in my house...and I'm 5.4". I think you can figure the rest out. lol

why do all the people with sabers have some custom thingy that relates to the sabers?

Title: Re: Vertical lightsaber display tutorial
Post by: JdiKnhtJMH on October 10, 2012, 11:00:36 PM
I would say its because we're custom type guys. A lot of folks who buy the Force FX stock models just have them sit in a closet. Most just let them gather dust on a stock display stand. We're the minority who really know about sabers, how to use and store them, and, of course, where to get the good ones. You will almost never see an Ultrasaber laying untouched in a closet and forgotten. Like attracts like, I suppose.

Title: Wall Mount
Post by: RCMUSTANG on October 24, 2012, 01:57:06 AM
Here's a product I found that makes mounting a Lightsaber very easy and versitile. It's a Maglite Mounting Kit. I got the one for the D cell batteries as my Maglite matched the diameter of the Yari extenstion. You may be able to use the C cell mounts for smaller diameter Lightsaber hilts out there. These are pretty inexpensive and run from $4-10 a set depending on where you can find them. I got mine through, where else, Amazon for $4.83. Here's the link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00002N9ER/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00002N9ER/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01)
Hope this is useful to some of you guys and gals.

I also used small 1/4" id x 1/2" long nylon spacers that I painted black to move it little further away from the wall as I will be adding some claws to the hilt and the shorter 16" blade.

It's 61.25". It came with the 24" blade and I forgot to add the 16" to the order when I bought the extensions on sale. I'm hoping another sale comes up so I can buy my VA led module to put in the extension to light up the vented couplers, the 16" blade and 3 War Glaive Claws.

Title: 7 Saber Vertical Wall Rack
Post by: PeDDeR27 on October 30, 2012, 02:47:44 AM
So last week, I decided to make some plans for a display rack. I took down some measurements and all that jazz, and came up with a very simple design for the base of the rack.

It is two pieces of black acrylic, the top piece being 1/4" shorter in length and 1/8" inch shorter in width, giving it a simple "tiered" look. The top piece also has 1 1/2" holes cut into it, spaced 3 1/2" inches apart from center to center. The bottom piece of acrylic is solid, so that the holes from the top piece act as cups to hold the sabers. The overall dimensions of this piece altogether is 24 1/4" x 2 5/8" x 1/2" (top and bottom piece both being 1/4" thick). I then planned on having 6 gussets (one between two sabers) of the underside for extra support.

To hold the blades, I purchased these from Amazon a couple days prior: http://www.amazon.com/Large-Black-Rounded-Cue-Clips/dp/B003TLC4WE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351558499&sr=8-1&keywords=large+cue+clip (http://www.amazon.com/Large-Black-Rounded-Cue-Clips/dp/B003TLC4WE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351558499&sr=8-1&keywords=large+cue+clip)

They are a perfect fit for the blades!

On Friday, I took my drawing and measurements for the base to a place in Fremont, CA, called Plastic Depot. I showed them what I had, and the guy who was helping me instantly knew what I wanted. He drew up his own drawing just to make sure he had it down. He quoted me $45, and to me that is a great price! Since I was going on vacation that day, I wouldn't have been able to pick it up earlier, so I picked it up today, and this is the finished product.

[
Overall, I am VERY satisfied with it! In total, it cost me less than $60. Hope you guys enjoy it! I plan on mounting it tomorrow afternoon, as I am at work until 11 PM tonight. I will post some finished pictures after everything is mounted.

I bought one on Ebay and it was too small.  The clips barely stretched out enough to fit the blades, and the holes in the base were too small and too close together.

I ended up buying a couple of those broom/mop holders which seem to be working ok for the most part.

Thanks, everyone! Sorry I haven't been replying to anyone; I have just been away for a while. I appreciate all the love! Haha.

That is awesome... though, I have to ask, did you look at a local sports store for a Pool Cue rack?  I was wondering how well one of those might work as well

I tried, but nothing came in black (which is what I wanted), and the sizing was always a little off for either the hilt sizes or blade sizes. I also kind of liked designing it myself and then watching it come to life. Plus, it was pretty cheap for a custom project. Most pool cue racks I found were on the expensive side.

How did you have the blade holder assembled???

It's just a piece of acrylic with those clips bolted to them. I then have some acrylic spacers between the wall and the base.

AWESOME!!! I got to have one...did they build the blade holder as well for you to fit the blade clips you baught? I would love to contact those guys and have one made for me...can I get there number PLEASE and a contact name!!! You can send in a PM if you want. THANK YOU...Dark Mal

Thanks! Sorry for such a late reply.. haha. But they only cut the base of the blade holder, that single flat piece of acrylic. I drilled the holes and mounted the clips to the base. Here is their number if you want to contact them! Feel free to show them the pictures if they need help, and if I can  find the measurements, I'd be glad to send them. Just shoot me a PM or something if you need to.

Nice. I will be doing this for my Bellicose for I have decided to keep the saber as a display piece only from now on. I'll need a standard blade for it though. Where can I get the wood and hooks at or did you already say?

I may have to give this a try as I too only have 3 sabers soon technically 4 as one I plan to convert my DSI into a staff

this would work perfectly for me if my local wallmart still has all of these and is quite cost effective over other saber stands

Trying to get a few of these - I have a V2 initiate, a V3 liberator, and what i think is either a v3 initiate or an aeon from grab bag - which size option should i use from that amazon link? the options are 2 and 24 and i just dont know which to use

The "D" cell size should fit any of the V3 sabers.  I think the "C" cell size would work better for the V2 initiate.

As for telling your grab bag - look at the choke points. If there is a ring in each, its an Aeon.  If the center of the choke point is a groove, its an Initiate.  :-)

All hail the OP for the fantastic mag-lite clamp idea.  I'm posting these to confirm that for the Dark Initiate LE V4 and the Initiate V2, the C-Cell size of clamp is ideal.  It only required one clamp apiece.  These are of my entryway, which means (with framed comic-con pics on the opposite side) folks now have to run the gauntlet of our nerddom and geekery to enter our house.

Hey All,

Thank you all for your great ideas for these saber mounts, Your ideas have been awesome and got me into my garage to see what I had to make my own wall mount.  I have 5 sabers just from my 1st order  and knew that they needed a home. ;D

I walked in the garage and lo and behold I found some scrap wood just laying around.  I happened to have a decent piece of a 1"x3" and some L-brackets.

I headed to Lowes and get a 1 1/8" arbored hole saw drill bit and some hammered metal black spray paint.  I spaced the holes about 3" apart and drilled 9 holes into the piece of wood I had.  I screwed on the L-brackets and painted the mount.  All in all, it took me about 2 hours to put it all together and paint it.

When it was dry and ready to mount I stuck it in my little closet under the stairs and took a few photos.

So all in all my little project cost me $18.00.  $11.00 for the drill bit and $7.00 for the spray paint.  The scrap pieces of wood I actually got from Lowes at an earlier date for free. I asked them if they had scrap wood that they were going to trash and they gave me quite a bit of scrap wood, so it doesn't hurt to ask them (you might get lucky).

I really didn't spend a lot of time putting it together, but for a rough draft copy I'm pretty happy.  Since Im already on the hook for at least 3 more sabers (coming soon) I know Im going to have to make a more detailed and clean product.

Below are the pics I took.  Hope this helps others to tackle their own wall mounts.

Amazing ideas and work with all the wall mounts.  I am new to the saber world.  I came here to get 2 sabers to mount on my son's nursery room wall over his crib.  I have 2 months before he is born so I am trying to get this sorted out.  So I purchased a Dark Initiate LE v3 w/ UE violet blade and a Initiate v3 w/ UE Sunrider's Destiny blade.  They are shipping now.

Those of you who have used the Maglite wall clips, I read somewhere in this post that the D clips fit these hilts, is that right?  Where on the hilt should the be placed? Also, should I use 2 per hilt?  and lastly, how do you secure the blade to the wall?

Sorry for the rapid-fire questions, I have been researching all day and finally found thread where my questions fit the topic.  Thanks in advance.

Hi Staheli,

I found that D cell clips fit most of the larger UltraSabers hilts while C cell clips fit the smaller hilts. For the Initiate V3 you will definitely need C cell clips. They fit perfectly in the choke point so that's where I would recommend hanging the saber. 1 clip will be easily enough to hold the saber securely in place. I just chose to use 2 for most of mine for increased stability, but this is not at all necessary. The plastic blades themselves don't need to be attached to the wall, they just float loose above the hilt, although if you plan to hang the sabers horizontally then it would be a good idea to support the blades too. You can use C cell clips for this. The clips come with screws and you can either screw them directly into the wall using wall plugs, or screw them to a piece of wood and then screw the wood to the wall with wall plugs, as I did. The clips hold the sabers quite tightly, so I found that after a while of me constantly pulling the sabers on and off of the mount, the wall plugs started to come loose and I had to re attach them to the wall, so be careful about that. Now I always make sure to push hard on the wooden board with one hand while pulling the saber off with the other hand so that I don't put any strain on the wall plugs.

From left to right, here are the clip sizes I used on my mount:

Dark Initiate V3 - C cell x2
Hasbro Force FX Vader - D cell x1
Dark Prophecy V3 - C cell x2
Crimson Scorpion - D cell x1
Liberator V3 - C cell x2
Dark War Glaive - D cell x2 (but 1x C cell in the choke point and 1x D cell further down would have been better I think)
Dark Initiate V3 - C cell x2

Good luck with your mount :)

I was thinking of creating a wooden saber rack to mount on the wall.  The sabers would hang blade down with the hilt topside engaged in a smaller diameter opening.  The front edge of the "display rack" would have a "gap" big enough to slip the blade through, and then the hilt would rest on the top surface of the rack so they won't fall through.  I would line the oval openings with felt to protect the blades when inserting.  Can you visualize my concept?

Hi LadyNyra,

I had the same problem trying to find C Cell clamps in the UK. I got some on eBay in the end but doesn't look like they have any right now.

D Cell clamps alone won't hold an Initiate V3 unfortunately. The hilt is thin enough that it'll just slip through. You could do it if you hung the hilt with the activation switch pointing to the side so that it rests on the side of the clamp, but you probably don't want it that way round, and you would definitely need two clamps to keep the hilt vertical if you did that. Another idea I considered is to make the clamps tighter by sticking something to the inside, such as that sticky back felt you put on the bottom of table legs, etc to stop them scratching the floor.

I should also mention that since making the stand, one or two or the C clamps have snapped after having the saber repeatedly pulled in and out of them. I guess the thinner plastic isn't that strong. Fortunately I bought spares so no big deal, but if it keeps happening I'll probably try D clamps with felt for my Initiates instead.

I need to do one. I have 3 HFX and 4 Ultras I believe and soon to have one from the other guys of my own. Plan to get a few more Ultras too and newer HFX's as well. My Utras are listed in my list though so been wondering if any of those would fit the hilts. Next sabers I plan to get is a Graflex, Guardian, and probably Sentinel V4

Difficult to say (I don't own a V4). They don't seem to have such an obvious choke point for the clip to go in than the V3 sabers do. A C-clip might fit around the emitter section where the windows are. It might be worth buying both clip sizes and experimenting. I wouldn't recommend attaching anything permanently to the wall until you have the saber in hand to try it out for size.

Such a great help!  For a horizontal mount, the C Cell clips work well with saber blades.  Also, the C Cell clip mounts are the perfect size for the choke point on an Apprentice / Dark Apprentice.  The D Cell size clips are great for the rest of the Apprentice hilt, provided you do a horizontal mount.  Thanks OP!  Point for ya.

Hi,

Apparently I cannot find a C Cell Clamp for love nor money in the UK.

Would a D Cell clamp keep a Dark Initiate LE V3 securely fastened to the wall?

Thanks in advance if you can help!

I don't have an Initiate, but I have a Dark Apprentice, and the Outside Diameter of each saber is 1.45 inches.  The D Cell clips work well for my hilt, just not at the choke point (too big at the choke point) or the emitter.  But perfect size for the body!  However, I do mount mine horizontally; if you want a vertical mount, it will not work for you as the saber will slide right through.

Thanks again OP for the clip mount idea!  Here's my wall mount.  Used a standard 48" x 12" shelf.  Mounted 4 D Cell Maglite Clips and 2 C Cell.  (Top and middle blades with C Cell clips, Bottom blade with D Cell clips, all hilts with D Cell Clips.)  Edit - All blades are 36", adjusted in hilts to make them all appear the same overall length.

I'm so thrilled with the way it turned out!

I don't own a Bellicose, but since both it and the Archon V2.1 are both MHS compatible, I believe they have roughly the same outer dimensions.  There is some give in the clips, but I'd definitely recommend the D size.

Hello guys, I just started collecting lightsabers so I have only 2 sabers I've designed a wall mount for. Actually it should carry 3 lightsabers, 2 vertical and 1 horizontal.

I should be receiving my Dark Warglaive by the end of this week, but that will go to a sword stand.

Had been looking around for a proper display stand for swords/lightsabers over the weekend, and wasn't happy with price vs. quality, so I've decided to make my own!

Bought the following stuff at my local Kmart and hardware store for around $30 Australian - 2x 1.2 metre by 18 centimetre planks of treated pine, 2 right angled brackets, a pair of fishing rod racks, and some wood screws -

Here's a mock up of how it will look in the end -

Tonight I've done the minimum, as I didn't get home till late, so I've marked where the racks will go, and pre-screwed about half way down the holes as well, as I'll be painting the pine black on my day off Wednesday, and the holes will be a guide -

This is where the brackets will go at the back -

I've also got some of these little rubber "feet" to put on the bottom, so won't paint the base (they're actually only about a centimetre wide, not the size of dinner plates!) -

Finished the rack today, it came out looking alright, although I might give it one more coat. It also seemed to be a little flimsy at the back, so I bought another right angled bracket, and a couple of galvanised mending plates to strengthen the corners - nearly broke the bank, had to splash out a whole 3 bucks for those! Hadhafang (Elrond, then Arwen's sword) has now been relegated to the second level of my Blu Ray/Book Case -

Is this a klignon sword? Nice stand though, When I start getting sabers I will be using this.

Here's the diy Lightsaber mount i made. Its actually for my friend, but got damaged so i just kept and used it instead. Its made of foam board which I just cut and put it all together with glue.
I wanted to cover the whole panel with a printed picture, unfortuantely i've settled for an A4 size since i cant find any stores who prints A3 sizes. It's not that perfect and I feel like I could do a lot more with it, but im quite happy with the result. Maybe a version 2 perhaps?

Its not much, but i'm quite happy with it!

You can't see it in these pics but I have drilled 3 holes in the top and the center plate at the bottom to hold extra blades or sabers. My day blade is in the middle one. I used velcro to go around the blades to hold my sabers in place so my sabers don't go anywhere.

OK, my friend here are the pics you requested. I improvised a little and just held the mirror in place to get the pics but you get the idea. So let me know what you think. MTFBWY!

I almost missed this iwth it on the bottom of the last page, wow, the mirror really kicks it up a notch! This is fantastic stuff! Vertical saber displays are my favorite, but this just brings it to a whole new level. I wish I could do something like this for mine!

I know it's not much but I like it  8)  It was oddly hard to find hooks that would hold the sabers, found nothing in any of the hardware store. Finally dug them up on Amazon, from Hong Kong!?! Would have preferred something translucent but that wasn't happening.

The real take away from this was using the replacemenet strips for the 3M Command Hooks to affix them to the wall. They're great if you live in an apt or just don't want to put holes in your wall.

UPDATE:  PB pic removed.  :)

That actually looks pretty cool Ross. I like how high up they are, really goes against the norm that way.

Thanks! Just seemed like the way to place 'em to me. Once I get another saber I'm going to go with the pool cue rack style of display.

"Not much"?!  I beg to differ; personally I think it looks awesome!  Plus I really like the juxtaposition between the contrasting colors of purple and orange  :D. Nicely done Ross^^

Here's a quick little saber stand I just finished up.  I kind of fudged up the Jedi symbol, but them's the breaks  :D

I think that looks good, nice work. Just an idea, but it might look a little more finished if you could find some hollow rods to put over the threaded rods.

Thanks!  Yeah, I actually thought about that afterwards.  I may go back and add some stainless steel rods or maybe even brass rods to add a little more color :)

so, as most know come Dec. my group and I will be doing opening weekend with a big raffle for an Archon V3 w/ lite sound in CG, costumes and all that.
the bonus is the saber comes with a custom stand.
this is worth bragging about all the looks and style you could think of.

It's not really a stand or something, but it's a way to display.

so...

Left a Covertec holder and right just a white tube clip.
It keeps the saber in place while driving and is easy to take out.

Working on this:
Had some 1x4's of pine board laying around and some acrylic from a kitchen remodel. I have some border to attach the front so you won't see the liquid nails.

It is just a bit on the heavy side and I'm not sure if I want to wall mount it with some heavy duty anchors, or stand it vertically under my sword rack. I also was going to put in some small LED's with a US Black Non-illuminated switch for control.

It holds 11 Sabers + 3 spare blades

I like this!  Did you bore holes through the pine boards to insert the blades?

This would work very well as a vertical mount, hilts up, on a wall as well, with a really cool side-use as a very unique lighting effect for a man-cave or other space.  Well done!

That is really cool looking DarthBone. Have any pics showing it from different angles with the lights on?

Hi all.  There are 20 pages here.  All but pages 11,14,16,17,18,19 contain no photos courtesy of PhotoBucket.  Therefore will lock this thread for viewing only.  Hopefully a new current thread will be started soon and the posts with photos will be transferred there.  :)

EDIT:  Sorry but at this time I am unsure how to achieve this without splitting the thread.  Was hoping to keep this one in it's entirety.  Please post any new enteries here:

UPDATE:  All 20 pages have had PhotoBucket pics removed and signatures noted.  This Subject thread will remain locked for now... and please use the current version to add on your related display pics and info.

There still are some good photos and written instructions within this thread.  :D
