Evidently, you're not the only one that likes that body piece you cant use as is. Im sure you'll find a use for it.

The crystal chamber looks great.  It's a shame that it has to be hidden.  Don't know where you find your krayt dragon balls... but not that long ago I went to a rock and mineral show and not one seller had any smaller marble size ones.  The other longer hilt piece looks good.  If not cutting out a small reveal window, could you not just drill out some round holes to catch the light ?  I'm sure that the stability of that part would not be compromised if done in moderation.

D7 I actually like the CC hidden. It's like a real lightsaber that way. I don't really like cutting holes for the crystal to show. I may end up doing it. I would go for an unstable damaged saber look if I did that. If you had tiny widows I wouldn't waste the time building a CC you'd probably be better of just putting in led lights because you won't see the crystal. The crystal balls are very difficult to find. You need 12- 14 mm which is basically 1/2 inch for it to fit. 3/4 inch balls are easier to find, but they are too large. I've spent the last 6 months looking on line to find them, occasionally they pop up.  If you still want one and your having troubles I'm sure I can get you one. I found amethyst ones the other day they are a little easier to find too.   Be careful when finding these crystal balls most of them offered are clear and usually not natural. You don't want clear you want lots of inclusions, they look better.

Thanks for the offer for the crystal balls.  I recently gave the 2 that I had away... for another member to use for saber customization.  At one time they use to be easy to get, but something round in that small size is difficult to cut down and polish.  Too fiddly labor intensive for the monetary value.  I'll have to dig out the info for some of my overseas contacts and purchase a larger quantity if I can.  Will let you know and send some your way if that happens within the next few months or in the fall.

Have you thought about using a clear marble and placing it briefly on a hot stove element ?  Will cause it to crack internally and will light up like natural inclusions.  Actually that is the newest thing to do with natural crystal now.  I purchased a smaller clear crystal point that had this done and the shattered look is quite cool.  Almost like bright clear stained glass with the extra visual depth.  Let me know if you want to see a pic.  Have to buy some camera memory cards today.

Wow I didn't know you could do that to a crystal. Very interesting. Is there a chance the crystal will actually break on you?  I would hate to build a chamber and then have the crystal shatter apart on you. I would love too see what that looks like if you get around to getting a picture of one. Thanks for the offer from you as well I have a bag of crystals now so I think I'm set for a while.

Yes there is that possibility so it has to be done delicately.  As soon as you literally hear the first crack then remove it from the stove and let it naturally cool down.  It will continue to internally crack.  It's been a long while since I have done this so will get some marbles to test it out.  In one way it's quite amazing that a simpler skill game of marbles is still popular enough to be sold.  Also some of the larger crystals have been microwaved but that is not something I would want to try.  Exploding crystal shards... ugg.
