I got an Electrum Wind a few years ago with both Obsidian and Emerald. .Always worked fine.  One day, it started cutting off randomly, and seemed like a loose wire.
I opened it up and looked at the wiring harness, and found several bad connections.  I just recently got around to fixing it.  There were three wires that were not connected, and I noticed when I put them together, the blade worked good.  I checked wiring diagrams and everything seemed to match up.  So, I redid these connections.  Used heat shrink tubing and everything.  The saber works fine for the most part - all of the sounds work, FOC works, the selected blade color works.  All of the default sounds work.  I have both Emerald and Obsidian boards.  I can also connect to both boards with the 2.45 version of the Launcher.  I can also change all of the colors of the blade successfully on the Emerald board.  I can connect to the Obsidian board. I had 8 banks or so of default sounds, just like it came from factrory, and saw no reason to change those.

The problem -  I can cycle through the menu just fine, but I cannot select any of the other sound banks.  I can hear the voice announce the different sound banks, Obsidian, Ancient, Sith, Episiodes 2-6, etc - but when I hold down the button to select, I do not hear the "confirmed" voice, and when I let go of the button, the lights come back on, but there is No SOUND at all.  The only thing I can do is shut off the saber and start over, and then I am back at the default Obsidian sounds.  The saber button works perfectly in every other way.  The saber itself works fine in every other way.  I simply cannot select any of the other sounds  from the Obsidian menu.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Charles W.

I'm sorry you are having this issue. If it is a wiring or board problem you need to send it in for repair. Some one else might be able to help you more in those aspects then me, if you wait for an answer.  My advice is to send it in for repair with the sort of problem you described.

 Now if it is just the fonts that are messed up, I can maybe help. If you connect to the editing program,  dont just look at the font title. Go and actually check that there are sounds loaded in the font. An actual power on and off sound loaded into the correct spot. You can have a boot sound and no other sounds which can make the saber act up.

 I would check the fonts out first and make sure that is not the problem.
I really wish I could help more. It has been a while since I did anything with my emerald saber.

When I connect to the Obsidian board, I indeed can see that all of the slots are filled with the titles of the default sound banks, you know the ones - Obsidian, Ancient, Sith, Episode 2-6, etc - and there is even listed the number of megabytes that each one takes up on the board.  However, none of them really seem to show each sound font for the individual movements and sounds when you click on say, Obsidian or Ancient.  They all say empty. So, I was under the impression that the LAuncher program is not really actually reading every little sound that is stored on the Obsidian board.  I was under the impression that this software is mostly for CHANGING the fonts, not reading them.  Anyway, I did go through the whole process of adding in the individual sounds for the Ancient font, and it took a while to load them to the board. but it did not seem to make a difference in the functionality of my saber in practice.

I'm sorry. I really hoped it would be something easy like a messed up fonts. If you reloaded the ancient saber font with no luck, I am at a loss. Without sending it in for repair the only other thing i can suggest is maybe the button is damaged? If the other font is working and the saber is acting normal on that font, then it probably isn't the problem. But it is something else to check before you send it in.
 I'm so sorry you are dealing with this problem.  Wish I had more advice to give!

You could always reformat the memory and then reinstall the whole default sound pack from this link here

https://ultrasabers.com/obsidian-sound-fonts/

As far as I know the launcher does read the fonts not just changes them.  I remember having that issue once and seeing it say empty and experiencing similar that if it says empty it does not make any sound on that action.  It should have the font you have loaded on your saber show up and you should be able to test it from the launcher, it should not just say empty.  I can't remember exactly what I did when the same happened to me, but I am sure I tried, unplugging and plugging back to my computer a few times, that was always an annoying must do activity before I invested in a USB hub.  And I have formatted my sabers many times to adjust the sound bank memory to fit the sound fonts I wanted, so it couldn't hurt to try and then reload everything, just a little time consuming.

@Edon Bluewolf,

 Thank you for that. I don't know why, sometimes the obvious eludes me. I also was assuming he had a custom font or two. Would  have asked, if it ever even crossed my mind.

I need to stop answering tech questions in the middle of the night! Thanks for the rescue.
 Sending a point your way.
