Hello I'm new here, I have a question that might be silly. I bought my boyfriend a dark apprentice v5 saber, and I was wondering if I bought the v5 pommel to go with it if I can turn it into a double saber? Is it possible to do it with that saber?

Any UltraSaber hilt can be made into a double bladed lightsaber, v2 to v2 (only works with the v2), v3 to v3, v4 or v5 (the v3, 4 and 5 have the same thread dimensions, called MHS compatible). What you need is a staff coupler for the v5 and another v3, v4 or v5 hilt to made the double bladed. You can get another Dark Apprentice v5, a staff coupler and you'd be good to go. Just really need to decide what 2nd hilt to use and the type of coupler you want him to have. There are several different types. Listed on the main page under lightsaber parts, under staff couplers.

The V3 and above and the more premium sabers all have MHS compatible pommels. The V2s are the only ones that are different. The Archon V2.1 is not a V2. It is one of the more premium sabers and has MHS compatible pommel and emitter. Any of the MHS compatible couplers can connect any two V3 or above sabers in many combinations.
The Dominicide does have MHS compatible emitters so it could be coupled to something else too but that seems silly as its already double ended.

Yes I'm going to get him the exact same one I just wanted to know if it was even possible to turn it into a double. All of this stuff is very confusing lol. Do I need to have the pommel? I just got it without so it's just a hole in the bottom.

The pommel is replaced by the coupler for both sabers and waits in a pocket until he decides to separate them again. So one is not needed unless the saber is to be used independently.

My suggestion is to get the quick disconnect coupler, as it functions as a coupler when the sabers are together, and a pommel for the individual sabers when they are apart. That way you don't have to keep track of the coupler and pommels and risk misplacing any of them.

This is the staff I just put together.  It is 2 apprentice v5 LEs with the quick release coupler suggested by sakura.  If you're able to match the dark apprentice when it comes back in stock and go with the black quick release it'll look like a black version of this.

Adding a little thought of mine.

Think about what you're planning to do with the staff. There are flush couplers and nonflush (obviaously). In my little humble experience I would think about going for a flush coupler if your planning on doing alot of spinning. Because you will be grabbing the center of the saber alot and sliding with your hands up and down. I can imagine you don't want to bumb into the grooves of a coupler averytime you make a move.
If your planning on sparring, same thing, but probably a little less, since you wil be wielding a double bladed saber instead of a pole/staff, so less sliding of hands and more holding the handle at the same place.

BTW, I love the pictures mr. Solo! That Spectre looks like a beast compared to those Initiates.

Little question on that quick release coupler. It isn't flush, but how does it handle? Does in influence your spinning?

My 2 cents about the quick disconnect coupler: The slightly raised area of the coupler helps control while spinning, giving my hands a stop point in the middle of the hilts. Only problem I have with the coupler is that the one hilt can rotate and put the button on one hilt out of position so it can cause a problem, but a rubber o-ring limits that.

Thanks TCCW!  My skills are somewhat limited but I've been comfortable spinning with it.  Like chalion mentioned it helps me keep track of the middle of the staff especially since my hand placement tends to roam and set off the lockup effect.  The rotation of the hilts is a little annoying like chalion said but for me it's not enough to be dissatisfied.  One thing I'm still evaluating is one occurrence of the coupler becoming partially unfastened when I was spinning quickly (for me that is).  Not sure if I incidentally pulled apart enough in the act but had to stop to prevent one hilt from flying off.  Haven't been able to replicate it and it takes quite a bit of force to separate the coupler at rest so I suspect it was a fluke.
