So i'm pretty sure i want to get a Prophecy CE with a SY UEMG blade (tuned to a gold colour).
my fighting technique is more of a one-handed, fencing-type setup- i only know this from playing with pool cues etc but i don't find 2h swings with longer implements etc really have the speed or accuracy i want to be using as a duellist.
As a result i'm thinking of getting an initiate-length blade, but was wondering what the balance of it is like as opposed to the standard length, and how easy the 32" blade is to control with the slightly shorter hilt and one hand.

I actually have  Prophecy V3 with a 32" Mid Grade blade and I feel that it is a marvelous weapon to wield with one hand. I believe the V3 is slightly longer and has a larger diameter than the CE, so the two are quite similar. The balance is great, and the saber is very easy to control. I don't have any initiate blades yet, I feel they might almost be TOO short.

I have 32" heavy grades on my Prophecy V2's and they work great. I feel perfectly in control when wielding them. Perfect for one hand.

I know a girl who's shorter than 5'8'' who wields an Aeon LE with a 36'' heavy grade dueling blade. So it's totally do-able. That being said if you want to be comfortable I would go with the 32'' blade.

this is all great input, thanks. sounds like the regular setup will be absolutely fine. And if it isn't, well, we own a dropsaw so cutting it down an inch at a time until it's right shouldn't be too hard Smiley

I am 5'7&1/2". I'm hooked, I think, on the 32" blades. They just feel right. Wink

What? A question about my favorite saber? Of course I'll help... Wink

I have a V2 CE with a 36er in it, and the balance is great. I'm 6'1" though, and I'll admit it's just ever so very slightly weighted towards the tip, so I'd recommend doing as the others have and going with 32" blade for yours. Also.... I'd recommend a Standard Heavy or Mid Grade. I haven't seen SY in person yet, but I've tried the UE on FO, VA, CG, BR, and GB. GB is the only thing I can still stand to look at in one. The UE lightens up the color, and from what I've heard about SY, you might be better off in a regular blade. Kham would know for certain better than I though, he IS the forum Sentinel. I'm just the local flyboy. lol

Thanks for all the help manroon. Ill definitely go for a 32 now- I've also asked around about the UE vs MG issue and from photos I think I prefer the look of the UE blade generally, but if you say you can't stand to look at other colours in ultraedge then my conviction is shaken a bit..

Somewhere around here there's a thread by Deep that compares the two blade types thoroughly. I can't find that one, but here's another that has some good pics. http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=5303.0 Still, if anyone can dig up the one by Deep, that would explain in much more detail.

And of course, you're welcome. Smiley

The standard blades are a more neon color i think while the ultra edge give a more pastel look.

One thing to remember is that in pictures it will look like one thing, and in person it looks a lot different because your eye will see it differently than your camera. Still good, just different. I really love how GB looks in the UE but CG looks a bit weak in my opinion, and since I will have to wait until tuesday for my saber with a standard blade in it to arrive I can't really tell you the difference. Maybe you can ask Kham to describe the difference in how the SY looks between the two blades, assuming he has both kinds which I think he does.

Artorius uses a Prophecy v2 with a 32" midgrade blade, and let me tell you... it's fantastic.  Perfect for the exact setup you've described, it's a fast and agile single handed saber (which is why he uses it as an off hand).

It's like the hilt was designed to work with a 32" midgrade, I'm telling you.

I prefer 32" for my dual wielding , good reach / light / fast/ easy to control . I use initiate length blades for saber staff or my kids sabers. For a 2 hander of coarse I prefer the 36".
