Not exactly sure why, but my first review thread has been taken down. Oh well, I guess this time I will be able to make it all neat and tidy now that I know I can only edit a post for a short time. However, if the moderator that deleted my post would please send me a reason as to why the thread was deleted that would be greatly appreciated, don’t want to do whatever it was that got the thread deleted again.

Onto the review!

First are a few small complaints, none of them are a big deal, but I like to give balanced reviews that show both the good and bad in a product. Nothing is ever perfect, and I don’t expect it to be so I don’t really think these little imperfections are a big deal. These are really just a few things that I noticed being a little OCD.

There is a scratch on the hilt above the emitter section, not too noticeable, but it’s there. You can see a picture of it below. The front button is a little off center, again not a big deal, but I did notice it. The LED inside the hilt rattles around some even with the blade in, and I’m not too fond of that. I’m not sure how I’m going to get to it, but I plan on adding a thing piece of felt around the LED to keep it from rattling, or something similar. The last thing were a few burs that were still on the pommel from the machining process, almost cut myself, but I was able to break them away pretty easily, and now the pommel looks perfect.

The Hilt:

One word, incredible. It is one of the best looking things that I own, and I am glad it’s what I decided to go for as a first purchase.  It’s just nice to look at. The decorative quality of this saber is far above the others that I have seen in person in my opinion, and contrary to popular opinion I think it’s very wieldable. I have no problems handling the saber at all, and can fight and spin the saber with ease. I like the point of reference that the little decorations and knick-knacks gives to me hands, and with the activation box I have to be more deliberate about turning of lock-up. The nickel plating also looks fantastic, though my hands grime it up more easily than they do the standard aluminum of my father-in-laws Manticore saber. It also has a fantastic amount of weight to the hilt itself, it feels quite a bit heavier than my father-in-laws Manticore, and I definitely like that. With the heavy grade blade, it feels perfectly balanced, and with the weightiness of it , the saber just feels sturdy in my hands.

This sucker is BRIGHT to boot.  The blade color can clearly be seen even in the middle of the day with the standard heavy grade blade that I ordered with it. In a dark room, it illuminates everything, and almost looks like you have a blue lamp on. The color is so rich a blue that the pictures just don’t do it justice, and it just looks so good on this saber, especially with the silver FoC.

I must say that I love this saber, and I am very happy with my purchase.

Sound:

What can I say, the Obsidian board is LOUD, and the sounds are so crisp and clear! The first time I turned it one, I was instantly satisfied. It wasn’t long though before I hooked it up to my computer and was messing with the sound fonts.

All is all I love the saber, and I will probably end up purchasing another one from Ultrasabers in the future.

The review of my sons saber is going to have to wait though. Small issue that needs to be worked out.

Video review will be coming soon as well, as soon as my sons saber is taken care of!

NICE review!

Lucas here is not kindding, that Guardian Blue blade color in amazingly bright!  Even with the heavy grade blade & when we put my UE medium blade on there it was even BRIGHTER!  Seriously though, we were outside around 1600 hours, sun was out & you could tell the blade color was blue.  Now, that is incredible!  I must admit that I too like the hilt as it is pretty easy to wield, & I thought it would be harder to wield because of the design.  But, I really like the classic design of the Graflex, to me it is the hilt shape you think of when you think of a light saber.

Now, that Obsidian sound board though, sure is loud.  When the 3 of us finally get our sabers in the same room, it will probably be too loud.  But, that is a good thing!  Playing with all the sound fonts have been quite fun as well.

We will have to post a video of Lucas (my son-in-law) & his son (my grand-son who has a dark initiate in CG) & me (Manticore in VA) having an epic dual.  Should make for a lot of fun!
