I just received confirmation that my grant has been accepted and I am moving down to Belize for at least one year.  I will be working out of the Tobacco Caye Marine Station, but most of my work will be independent research off station.

So I will have limited internet I assume...the island runs on generators and solar.  But it seems that is wiggle room for some communication.

I am packing already even though it will be a month or so before I leave.

Yay!

This what I will be studying...helping to establish an aquaculture facility...

Best part? You don't have to learn Spanish. Plus, Belize is a beautiful place, and a lot of people retire there.

I and my wife have been to Belize and to Tobacco Caye itself  Smiley

I have a standing offer to have a cottage there for as long as I like...to be their service and facility manager...the electrical, mechanical, structure, boats, generators, etc.

I was considering going down there in 2015, after my last kid gets settled in life...he just graduated and has been accepted into college, so we have the transition to manage and then we could leave.

Man you are lucky.  Maybe I can take a mini vaca and head down there with the wife, she loved it the last time.

We will have to get a couple dives in before you leave...I will be in Rockport with some free time in the middle of July.

I am back to pick up a few items, fill out some paperwork, get a series of shots, and then back down to Belize.

There is limited to no internet where I will be but my buddy will check on my online accounts for me.
