I need to repair the wiring in my recently purchased Phantom initiate 4 ( loose wire connection). I am very capable of wiring / repair, but I cannot see how the switches are mounted / glued in place. I wish to do this with my other sabers as well ( change  / add connectors).

Any info?

Thanks,

David

my first answer ill be, they are pressure fit.. if they are the plastic ones, latching or momentary... if its an illuminated switch then you will need to go indie the hilt and unscrew the nut on the inside of the switch..

if its the plastic ones, just grab a pair of needle nose and some tape... tape outside of the switch then grip it tightly and spin it as you pull it up, it will come out... the tape is to keep you from scratching the outter plastic of the switch guard

this has been a PSA from the one.. the only... "Crazy Hermit"   (PSA: Public Saber Announcement..,. hehe)

Many thanks! I wanted to add Molex SL connectors to my main connections and didn't want to chow the switches.

Any thoughts on how to secure the blades better? One set screw doesn't seem to do it. I was planning to add a couple more ( the kind with plastic tips that flatten to hold better), unless there is a better idea?

yea i have done this too, i went out to buy myself a drill and tap for the same size of thread they use int he hilts.. its a 8/32 thread drill and tap, ... drill the hole, then use the tap to slowly but smoothly turn the threads yourself, i also have wrench lube on hand to keep the thread tap moving smoothly.. its like a 1.5 turn, then back it up .5, then turn it more... its a slow process, but you turn it faster it will break the tap

for the set screws..  US uses the 8-32 drill & tap
again you gotta be easy with it, not like its glass, but if you try to torque it to hard and don't do a back turn  every few twists, it will snap due to pressure

also just the one is more then enough to hold the blades, in, its gonna happen sooner or later, but the blades will get some "scratches" from the holder set screws.. its just a part of the game..

Thanks! Quite familiar with tapping ( it seems you are too, as many do not know the proper technique you wrote), but I wanted to know if people used more than two or if they changed set screw types ( I have gone with a conical point set screw).

I have had the blade(s) come out during medium contact or become quite loose ( even though snugged well). That said, I am getting ready to use them in a martial arts test, so I want a foolproof way to hold them in as it would look really stupid to have my blade(s) fly out during the combat kata.  Smiley

i also get the screws with a thumb nut on the end, so i can easily take them out at my own need, without having the use of a key wrench..

Great idea! I'll get a few and see which I like better.

Thanks!
