Hey Zren
. BAM! Cue Catalyst love lol:
Ok, so here's your blade depth pics- but I just gotta warn you...
1) it's a bit deceiving when you look at the pics since the camera wasn't on an exact right angle / flush with the area, so it makes it appear a little deeper. DESPITE WHAT THOSE PICS LOOK LIKE you're looking at about a little less than 3/4 of an inch from where the blade bottoms out to the lowest point of that cut-away between the forks, or a little less than 1 3/4" from the top of the forks.
and 2) I've been dousing my hilt in acid etc. for a mod I got goin ATM, don't worry they come shiny lol!
I'm not gonna lie, it's shallow compared to my other sabers, and due to the position of the set screw (which I totally see why they did- not complaining at all) the blade does have bit of rattle to it/ play, when clashing/ swinging vigorously- but like I said I totally understand why they place the screw there, it's safest there because the forks get very thin at tips and would be all kinds of trouble for single retention screw higher up- poss bending over time, breaking etc.
but don't get me wrong, I've put this thing through A TON OF VERY SERIOUS BEATINGS and can promise you that blade's not going anywhere- it may feel a little unnerving at first, but if I haven't popped that blade out at this point it's legit. And plus, if the rattle bugs you, it's no biggie to tap another couple screws, like I'll be doing in my current mod so I can hardcore duel with no rattle.
Honestly, don't even sweat the blade depth, U.S. would never send out something that was un-fit, and I know on account of some pretty extreme field testing lol
. All in all the catalyst is a totally AMAZING, totally underrated saber, you can't go wrong! I believe James Casey, Forum Watchman, would be a great person to talk to about the catalyst- should pm him. He was one of first people I encountered on the forum and he mentioned he's got a sick pair of yin/yang catalyst n dark catalyst for dueling! I'm sure he would spread that catalyst love. Hope that helps, MTFBWY
