The light and dark side both consume me

« on: March 07, 2016, 03:31:30 AM »

Hello guys and girls, I recently picked up my first saber that wasn't just for show a few weeks ago. It was an Ultrasaber Dark Initiate V3. Less than 24 hours after  owning it i decided it needed to be weathered as it was too pristine for my liking. Here are some progress photos i took amd im still toying with the idea of a wrap as well.

We don't like Star Wars, we live for Star Wars.

This looks great! Did you use sandpaper? If so, what type?

Thank you.

It is. I have another hobby which is collecting 1/6 scale figures. This is my small (but growing) 1/6 scale star wars collection but i have figures from other properties too

Thanks buddy. I did use sandpaper. i believe i used a 200 grit sanding block at first, then i used 120 grit for the few heavier spots of weathering then i finished it off with 400 grit to smooth it all out.

Looks awesome! The sanding job really brings out the lines of that hilt so nicely- I love the softened, worn look it gives to the contours.  And very nice figure collection as well Smiley.  Vader looks so wicked.  Point awarded.

Thanks, i appreciate the kind words. I basically just sanded it to bring out the lines at first. Then gripped the saber as i normally would and that determined where i would put the heavier weathering. It's by no means as weathered as alot of sabers i've seen but i'm happy with it.
