Lord Vader. Rise!

« on: April 14, 2016, 01:01:49 PM »

Hey guys!
I've had my 2 sabers for a while now (dark dominix V3, Initiate V3) and I love them!
The only thing I'd like to do though, is weather them somehow, I've already painted the Dominix a bit and I'm pretty happy with it, but I would love something more.

Thanks

Step 1: Lightly sand entire hilt with fine sandpaper.
Step 2: Spray hilt with cone coat of black satin finish spray paint. Allow 1 day for drying.
Step 3: take medium sandpaper and hold in hand, then do light twists with the sand paper to the hilt. The more you concentrate in one area, the more silver will be exposed.
Step 4: Apply a flat or satin clear coat to finished hilt.
Step 5: Enjoy!

I did some weathering of my Apprentice V4 pretty much the same way GQtattooed  stated, although I used a matte black spray paint, and wiped off most of the paint about 45 seconds - 1 minute after spraying, then applied the clear coat, and it turned out alright!

I covered my hilt with a Tsuka Ito wrap (which is why I wasn't really worried about the clean round ring around the switch!), but really wasn't happy with it, so going to cover the hilt in leather instead now
