I have an Aeon v4 with the diamond controller. If my saber is hit hard enough it turns off after playing the default obsidian font selection sound. What is the cause of this, and can it be fixed?

How hard are you hitting it? I'd suspect you're jarring the batteries loose.

I can drop the saber from above my head, ~6 ft 6in, onto my carpeted floor and it does it. The Li ion battery holder doesn't seem to allow very much movement of the batteries.

Hi skyfall421,

if your saber plays the sound you mentioned before shutting dow, then it's definitely a battery issue. Either they move in the mount and disconnect, un-powering the saber, or there might be a faulty contact.

Cheers,
Adrian

I put bubble wrap behind the battery pack (towards the emitter) and above the soundboard. While the latter was done to prevent the Obsidian's USB port from being crushed (as it did on my saber), it may help in your case to prevent jarring. The movement up and down the hilt is more important to what's happening in your case, so try the bubble wrap above the battery pack

I noticed this on one of my sabers the other day.  It happened if I stabbed the floor, but didn't happen for any other stabs.  I'll check the batteries.

Thanks Adrian. I'll figure something out.

Try wrapping a velcro strap around your battery pack. My DSI has that and I've not had an issue with the batteries coming loose yet.
