To my knowledge, Mr Rogers tv show was never broadcast in the UK. In fact I think very few people over here actually know who Mr Rogers is. I asked a few people at work and no-one had even heard of him (and these are people in their late 20s - mid 50s).

With worldwide box office being so important to a movie's success these days, how well do you guys think this movie will do outside of America when there are many people haven't never seen the show and who don't know who Mr Rogers is?

I did not know that, I'm kind of sad people across the pond never got to experience the joy of Rev. Rogers.   More than likely it won't do well but maybe it will introduce people to Mr. Rogers and via the internet can learn more.

I think this is one of those movies that is not necessarily intended for wide distribution outside the US.  It may not even be intended to be "widely" distributed in the US.  Certainly not a limited release, but not one where they show it on every screen in every theatre in the city for two days in a row.  This seems like one of those movies that is intended to be an "Oscar" contender and not a "blockbuster", though the two are obviously not exclusive to each other.  I think it will be moderately popular here in the US.

It's definitely not going to be a blockbuster, but with a star of the calibre of Tom Hanks I can't imagine it will be a low release movie either.

I didn't even know he was a reverend. I think the only reason I know him is through a pop culture reference on Family Guy or something.

They released a documentary last year in the theaters, so my guess is they are now trying to piggy back off of that. But considering how long it takes to make a movie I'm not sure.

Growing up I never watched Mr. Rogers, but I know what is was. Might see it but won't be in the theaters.

There apparently was a documentary in 2010 too. I know about last year's documentary as all the movie talk channels on youtube I watch kept talking about it loads, especially when it was snubbed by the Oscars.

I think it will do decent numbers here in the states, not Blockbuster mind you.  Mr. Rogers Neighborhood ran for 33 years starting in 1968, so there are multiple generations who grew up with him.

It will do well in the US. The fact that it is Mr. Rogers is enough, but add in that he is being played by Tom Hanks, it is about as perfect as it gets without actually having Mr. Rogers. I'm definitely excited for it, and will be watching it when it comes out for sure.
