Desert Claymore Saber (Help?!)

Morning,

I’ve been toying with the idea of designing a saber more suitable for my Miraluka costume that I’ve taken to crafting over these past years. Needless to say, I’ve steadily upgraded from one saber to another as far as quality is concerned. My most recent one was a gift from Ultra Saber’s own “Grab Bag.” I don’t have a picture, but the black PVC saber has been covered with leather and given a more… Desert design (the theme of my Miraluka). Anyways, I feel it is time to finally take a shot at putting something together and Ultra Saber carries more than enough for me to do so… Only problem? I’m not sure exactly what I am looking at or where to start… So I am looking for some help.

My concept is as follows: the hilt is somewhat “savage” in appearance. Tarnished along the high edges, straps of leather hanging from it… Again, giving it a desert, almost barbaric feel. Though overall, the base design is not too complicated. Well, beyond the “character” using a two-handed saber, designed to be used like a large sword (such as a claymore or greatsword). Most greatsword hilts range between… 17”-22” If memory serves.

Anyways, I would like to have light, but I do not need sound… Just looking to be pointed in the right direction and any ideas… Or warnings what not to do.

Some of the modifications you are describing would have to be self done but for the base, I think the best two hand sabers that would look Savage would be the Raven, War Glaive, or Malice.  My personal preference would be the Malice.

If you went Dark War Glaive with a yari extension, that could get you the length you describe.  So far as savagery is concerned, I'd definitely agree with blue's suggestions.  I'm not as big a fan of the Malice, myself...  I prefer the claws to the large blades.

Personally I think the Bane looks like a nice "savage" weapon. Its 13 inches long (15 with the RGB switches) and has separate grip sections for that 2 hand feel. The emitter is just begging to be tarnished and dinged up around the edges, and there is plenty of space elsewhere to wrap some leather or dangle some trophies.

Mm... Great suggestions. I've got to take a look at the budget and work toward something. Trying to balance purchasing something already made and extra bits is being difficult. As this is something I really only plan to wear on my belt... I don't much see why I should have all the electronics. Although, I really want a glowing  button... :3 But I can't figure out which handles actually support them.  ._.
