Custom Standard Issue the "Yoshimitsu" (UPDATED 21-4)

Glad to hear so. I added a cap over the crystall. It is gold and the crystal sits right in the middel of it. Will post pics of it tonight.

As for the promised update. here is my final pommel. I think i am done now. But i will probably keep customizing this design until it breaks down or something like that.
I took some more gold paint and added it to the end before the screw on pommel.
I also painted the last ring of the pommel gold as well as the crystal assembly that is glued in place.

Yeah, looks much better than the fuzzy decals did. The jewel bit looks like part of the saber now, not just stuck on. Good job.

I felt the same way. The pommel also gives the saber a more rounded look at the end. I hope the reactions at the EFF will be as positive as these.

And again an update.
After some dueling i thought that the pvc bit under the screw was way to low and it took to much space.
So i decided to turn it upside down and put it a bit higher on the hilt.
Also since it was modeled after yoshimitsu i needed a different guard. Since i am smart enough to not look at some reference pics i made a new gaurd. Which was way to square after i did look at some pics.



So i had to start all over and this is what i ended up with. I like the way it turned out but it leaves to much plain hilt above the activation switch. So i will completely replace the wrap with a new one but until then.

Since the guard was customized to resemble yoshimitsu's more it felt like the wrap didn't look quite right. Yoshimitsu's wrap has always been more in color with his armor/costume. My costume will be largely white and deep red so i went to some stores for laces but i wasn't really successful until yesterday.
 
But first things first.

There was a huge gap between the guard and the first ring.
The ring was kinda wide since the fabric of the wrap was really flush against the hilt.
The pommel felt unnatural and made the saber look kinda cone shaped.

While i was at work yesterday noon i found a snapped deep red container fastener and some wood color like rope. Since the first band was way to wide but the exact color i needed i decided to cut it in half and burn the sides to ensure that it wouldn't raffle. I took the hilt and stripped it completely of its wraps so i ended with a very plain SI. After that i rewrapped the entire hilt with the band and it turned out pretty good i think. The wood colored rope went around the gold section of the pommel to fill out the hilt a bit more. The overall wrap is thicker than the first one so the ring where the switch is doesn't stand out that far anymore.

I think it looks more like a katana than before but feel free to shore your opinion.

Very much more like a katana. Honestly, on your first run through, if you didn't tell me "katana" I wouldn't see it. This is obviously katana-ish. The red looks good man, and I like the twine looking stuff near the bottom.

Huge improvement in my book.
