Here is a couple of teaser shots , I just finished with my machining and am off to the powder coater come morning! This hilt is designed to seperate with 1 set screw and 2 micro plugs to make it a very simple design with future up-grades kept in mind

Is it just me or does the screen remind one of Star Trek...the decor on the Enterprise?

Wow! Those are sick!
Maybe one day when I get a 3d modeler!
In the meantime I wanted to show some of the machinery that I recently acquired for this new hobby, I went on craigslist looking around for a small bench lathe, I saw many out there in the 1000 plus range (maybe down the road) I found a 1970's craftsman 109 lathe 1/4 of mile down the road, and he just happened to be the neighbor of a good friend! Score!!  I picked it up for 100 bucks, spent another 80.00 on ebay for the missing parts and started turning metal (been wanting one of these for 20 yrs since high school machine shop)

At the same time my old drill press went dead on me and finally died after 30+ yrs of service, After much research I went to lowes , took advantage of my military discount and scored a porter cable free standing model with laser guide (it works very well for squaring the chuck to the table quickly)

and the 1st parts made

I sometimes wonder if you realize what you did to us when you posted that Starkiller.... and here you are doing it again, so I guess you must.  Cheesy

Seriously though, most excellent!

And Rel, that's an epic idea. Did you have to use the NX-01 nacelle though? I mean, why not the TOS? Or the Sovereign Class? The sovvy could work, if you back to backed them. Heck, and the intermix windows on the sides would, to get back on topic, make great windows to the saber's internals. Not to mention if you pulsed the crystal chamber..... Cool

Thanks ! Actually the second time around is going much quicker, I simplified the design a bit and actually have the right tools to machine parts with, I have a cple of other saber designs that I will machine completely from scratch billet. As far as this one goes I'm mainly building it as a custom production piece for show.

Milling from a piece of stock is something I would like to do also.

I will have to look into a milling machine also...best local price has always been around $1200 for a busted one  Sad

I can cast out of metal fairly easily though.

Maybe I will try something along those lines  Smiley

This is what I would want my emitter to look like, and that's why I went with the Bellicose. Dang...
