Got a call yesterday.
Basically a recall from a lay off when the whitehouse shut down oil drilling in the Gulf Of Mexico.
It has come back,,,,sorta.
HOwever the recall will take place in Feb.
Best news I will end up making 35K more than i am now.
Bad news wont be on here much ( contain your cheers)
Better news I will be able to afford all my wish list sabers!

While I am happy for you, there are some things to consider:

1) Is the extra cash worth the time away from home?
2) How will this time away affect your relationship with your family?
3) Have you been happier off the rig, but working, or were you happier on the rig?
4) Does your current job pay the bills, or are you struggling to make ends meet?

1) Runnning offshore supply vessels is what I have doen for the last 16 years. so yeah my kids live withy their mother and are used to it. Truth be told i was a more involved parent before I got a land job.

3) oilfield is in my veins. well with a healthy mix of salt water.
4) current gig is around 60K . I am not struggling just know that im making what i once was. Im liking the 90 to 100K income. Plus working 28 days on 14 days off,,works  out to apprx 4 months a year off. 4 months i can take the kids and  do whatever when ever, where ever.

The forums comfort me to that end... Always nice to know that one is not alone with these issues. I get my fix this eve... my son's Prophecy is at the post office as I type this. It's going to be an awesome night!
