Yup! These Obis are longer than humans. They’re really wide too so they need to be narrowed to accommodate most Belt widths

I was shopping for costume upgrades of Etsy when I stumbled upon this shop:

Far Far Away Outfitters

If you are going the traditional or semi-traditional route for a Jedi/Sith cosplay this looks like the place to go. They have almost everything, in a wide assortment of colors, and for decent prices:

Me and my daughter are staying their stuff in these pictures.

I have an obi from them for my Twin Roses set because I wasn't finding a proper matching oatmeal osnaburg fabric/color from anyone else so, I actually like and prefer the long length and wide width they do. I'm gonna get a black and chocolate colored obi from FFAOF here soon too. I don't mind its a different shade of osnaburg though than the main tunic color

I have full museum replica obi wan costume I'm looking to sell, it's a really heavy, quality costime, with belt and the boots. It's all zipped up in a garment bag now but can post some pics if you or anyone you know is interested.  Also have an Anakin pod helmet and an imperial guard helmet. All in great condition.  Will split up.

You may want to post which Episode Obi-Wan, since his costumes have slight variances in I, II, III and IV. That being said, we are also not supposed to post about items for sale in the forum without prior permission from Ultra or Deep (legality issues). A better option for those particular items might be posting in the Rebel Legion and/or Saber Guild forums, which I believe each have their own section for selling/trading costume pieces (plus, those audiences are specifically looking for Movie-Quality Replicas like your Obi-Wan).

Any advice for puting togerther an original Sith costume? I have a few items in mind already but itema ike base layers and whether to utilize a basic jedi-like uniform or not are still floating around. I have some ideas for armor on shoulders and gauntets as well as modding a helmet, etc

So if you have any tips or ideas, I'm all ears

I recommend simple. My base garment is nothing more than a black karate gi I bought on Amazon.

The robe is modified from a shop on Etsy called Skirtstar. Boots (minus armor), gloves and belt are from Amazon as well. After that it gets complicated. Grin

Like My Cohort Logos said...start simple.  But also delve into your character.  What is he/she like.  Personality is the main ingredient (imo) in coming up with a costume...especially Sith.  Attitude, strengths, weaknesses, injuries, fighting style...I thought about all this for my costume.

Also agree with my cohort. Try to have the image tell a story. That will help you shape the look you're going for.

My best example of "looks telling a story" is the characters from Overwatch. I don't play, but I am fascinated by the characters. When you look at each one, you can see that there is a deep backstory behind them. Then you go to the Wiki page and get to read the story. Grin

Thanks all for those tips. I have been pulling ideas from various sources. I really like the long tunic/tabards Darth vader wears under his armo and found an overlong sweater that looks very close. Ill try to post links to some of my choices when I get a chanc. How do you guys tackle variety in the all-black world of Sith costumes? I plan to break it up by making arrmor pieces a hand hammered gray-black with plenty of damage.

Armor is always a good option.  As well if you use different materials even though they are all black they will contrast...using vader as an example.  His suit, cape and tabards were all black but different materials and easily distinguishable from each other.  But don't think you have to go all black to be a sith.  Many sith mixed in different colors.  Usually Reds, deep blues and Purples from what I have seen.  Sith were much more non-conformist than those dirty Jedi.

I decided to add some color before Celebration last year. Went with a charcoal grey dickie for the under-tunic and a red cummerbund. Kath insisted on dying it a darker shade. (nailed it) I got those from a good place on etsy called Far Far Away Outfitters. They specialize in 1-size-fits-all pieces cosplay parts to minimize customer costs for customization. Like the cummerbund is actually an 8' piece of cloth that you wrap around until you run out of material

I'll try to get my apprentice to post pics of his latest project. His Sith assassin cosplay is coming along beautifully.
