OK, this thread is for asking rhetorical questions you think of while watching movies/tv/games.  They don't necessarily need to be answered.  Let's just see what people are asking themselves as they watch/play.

For example:  In Harry Potter, they have a centuries old wizarding community that has spells for everything from killing people to boiling water.  So why the hell hasn't someone come up with a spell to fix the main characters damn eyesight!?!

First we must all agree that what we are talking about is all fake. LOL

With the ONE miracle exception being magic, I'd say there is a difference between being born with bad eyes and deteriorating eyesight.

Essentially a system reset, if you had perfect vision and it got worse as you got older, someone could fix it by restoring it back to it's prime condition.

It seems it would be more difficult and risk more complications to fix something that wasn't there in the first place. If your eyes are bad when your a child and you use glasses most of your life, that would be the norm for your body, messing with that could leave you blind.

Who knows though, maybe Harry just thinks they make him look more dashing.  Cheesy

Following in the vein which Oramac started:

I was playing XBL with my brother today and I saw someone talking about "obeying the owl"...don't these pitiful fools realize that they've got it wrong? You don't obey the owl! You obey and give glory to HYPNOTOAD!!

In Oblivion, you can become the Champion of Cyrodiil, New Sheogorath, etcetera....

But why the kriff can't you open a rickety wooden door without unlocking it?!

Oh, I can think of plenty...

In Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Pt. 2, after Alice showed Aro a vision that foretold the death of everyone in the Volturi, if they decided to fight, why didn't Aro just say "Oh hey, thanks! Now I know what to watch out for when we start fighting you guys! Volturi... ATTACK!!!"

In Power Rangers Dino Thunder, why did Kira just leave Trent all alone, even though she knew he could revert back into the evil White Ranger at any time? Why didn't she just take him with her when she went to get help?

In Power Rangers SPD, after the SPD and Dino Thunder Rangers saved the day, why in the kriff did Commander Cruger erase his own memory of the events? Why didn't he just erase everyone else's memories and be done with it?

In Hunger Games, why did everyone give up immediately when they realized that Katniss was stuck in a tree? Surely they could have burned the tree down, or chopped it down, or threw stuff at her. Further more, why did Katniss feel the need to give away her position by shouting Peeta's name at the top of her lungs?

In The Walking Dead, why must Carl be such a whiny brat?

For Hobbit:  My nephew was real big into Power Rangers Turbo and Space and there was a Ranger called the Phantom Ranger.  He was never identified, why is that?  The show started in 1992 and is still running but never heard about the Phantom Ranger ever again.

In ESB, Luke is told he is not ready to face Vader and must train more.  He fights, survives, and when returns, Yoda doesn't do crap to further his training except tell him to face Vader again.  Why is that?

Mickey and Minnie Mouse have been boyfriend and girlfriend for decades.  When are these two going to get married?

Why do women's public bathrooms have an area to change a diaper but men's public bathrooms don't?  (not movie related but been on my mind)

In AOTC, what happened to Jango's second blaster?

On Family Guy, why is it that everyone can understand Brian the Dog but only Brian the Dog can understand Stewie the baby?

Luke isn't ready because he failed the test in the cave (something that comes back to haunt him for years later...Exar Khun and all that fun stuff...). As to Yoda doing nothing later, he knew that he was ready to die and could do no more for Luke. Luke's time to learn was then in ESB; by the time ROTJ came around, it was too late.

As to changing tables in men's public bathrooms, they exist up here!

Countdown To Destruction, the season finale for Power Rangers In Space, was meant to be three episodes long, and was also supposed to contain a scene at the end that would reveal the Phantom Ranger's identity. Unfortunately, this would have made them go over-budget, so they scrapped the third episode altogether. There was also supposed to be whole episodes dedicated to revealing his origin story, but if I remember correctly, those were scrapped because they were too dark and mature. Take that last part with a grain of salt, though. My memory is fuzzy.

The reason why he was never seen after In Space is because the writers for the next few seasons didn't want to have any ties to past seasons (well, as little ties as possible).

I can tell you more if you want, but it'll be rather lengthy, and I think it would be best if I sent it in a PM. Also, the show started in 1993 Grin

Also, those changing tables exist here as well.

Points awarded.  I would love to hear more about it Hobbit.  PM anytime you get a chance.

Still got that nagging question about Jango's 2nd blaster though.  Gonna stick with me like why do Hot Dogs come in packages of 10 while the buns come in packages of 8.

All men's restrooms around here have them.

My understanding is he lost it in his fight with Obi-Wan.

In the Star Wars Universe, you have robot soldiers, doctors, repairmen, maintenance technicians, co-pilots, football players, bounty hunters, paparazzi's, factory workers, helpers, maids, butlers, servers... the list goes on and on.

My question is, what exactly do humans / humanoids / the races in Star wars do for work?
They certainly can't be doctors.
From what I can gather, unless you are a soldier [military in general - Naval, pilot, etc.], politician, bounty hunter, smuggler, a Jedi / Sith, a taxi-cab driver, a chef, a moisture farmer, bartender, and a journalist [Jaden Korr's Uncle], you are either out of work or on some sort of welfare system.

Are they practicing some sort of socialism?  They still use credits and some people are inevitably better off than others, so they must be doing something.  On Coruscant there's millions of vehicles flying at every given time.  What exactly are they doing?  Where are they going?  Are they going to work or going home?  Do they have the 8 hour work schedule?
Anakin and Obi-Wan stumble into a bar/club.  There's people there having a good time watching robot football players.  Surely they can't be there all the time can they?

My dad's a doctor and he said, "in Star Wars you can laugh, mostly cry, be angry, fight, be a soldier, a Jedi, and a politician, but other than that a droid is doing everything else."

This is a question that has gone unanswered for years.

TL,DR Version:  What do people do for work in the Star Wars Universe when Droids / Robots can do the exact same thing almost just as good, if not better?

I could go on a tirade about this, but I'll leave it short: droids can do, but organics can think.  It's a subtle, but key, difference.

@Waxman, I guess all of the humans have moved into management positions with droids acting like employees.

On the Jango Fett blasters:  He has two when he is first fighting Obi Wan.  After the rocket is launched from his pack, Jango is air kicked by Obi and you see one blaster hit the ground.  After Jango is thrown to the ground and his jet pack soars off and explodes, he grabs that same blaster and fires at Obi.  He never is shown again with 2 blasters for the rest of the movie.  Maybe I need an extended cut version or maybe there are some deleted scenes that I don't have access that answer that question.  If anyone has an answer that I can see, please feel free to direct me to it.

Here's a silly one for you all!

Has Tim Curry ever NOT played either a villian or slime-ball? (In Fern Gully, he was both!)

(Clue doesn't count because [SPOILER] he was the murderer in one of the alt. endings.)
