I am Mr. Yellow.

« on: March 29, 2013, 02:26:48 AM »

The Generalissimo is returning to Springfield and it’s only taken about 230 episodes to get him back. For the first time since his debut appearance on The Simpsons – the 2002 episode “I am Furious (Yellow)” – seemingly immortal comic book writer Stan Lee will appear on TV’s longest running sitcom.

In the episode, which is set to air next season, Lee will once again play himself and once again he will play off of Comic Book Guy, the show’s resident nerd retailer whose store Lee visited last time around.

So, what brings Lee back to The Android’s Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop? Apparently it’s not so the geek icon can have a cameo in the sequel to Angry Dad: The Movie.

Here’s a brief synopsis from EW:

"Homer stands to ruin a blossoming relationship between Comic Book Guy and an attractive young Japanese woman/manga fan. Lee swings by Comic Book Guy’s store and doles out some advice on comics, romance, and, yes, romance comics."

Seth MacFarlane, Gordon Ramsay, Joe Namath, and West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin are also set to appear next season as guest voices, though that list figures to swell as the fall approaches. Of course, fans can also look forward to an episode written by Judd Apatow.

For Lee, this is just another blip on a remarkably busy schedule. In addition to his notable and beloved cameo rolls in both sides of the Marvel Movie Universe, Lee has also appeared recently on Comic Book Men and as a voice on Robot Chicken. Previous TV work includes appearances on The Guild, The Big Bang Theory, and Chuck.

When Lee isn’t working as a guest star or touring the Comic-Con circuit at the age of 90, wowing large crowds with his boundless exuberance, the Spider-Man and X-Men co-creator also serves as the public face of Stan Lee’s World of Heroes, the YouTube channel where Lee actively contributes his Stan’s Rants and Cocktails with Stan webseries.

The surprising thing about Lee’s reappearance isn’t that he is still actively taking on work long after he could have kicked back and stopped doing such things – its that Lee can fit this into his busy schedule between hanging out with Iron Man, crowdsurfing at Comic Con, and serving as the comic industry’s goodwill ambassador!

The Simpsons airs on Sundays @8PM on FOX
