when i was a kid , probably around 8 years old, i remember seeing a toy lightsaber at a local department store ( jamesway to be exact). they were about 4 feet long , made out a rubbery like plastic , one piece hollow blade and hilt. when you swung the saber it made a really cool noise , something at the end of the blade made the sound when it was twirled around. i think there were three colors red, green and blue , but i'm not positive. my parents wouldnt get me one , probably because they thought i would hit my older brothers, but they would buy us whiffle ball bats. if anyone knows what i am talking about or where i can find one , please let me know. thanks.

I've actually got one...my brothers were really little when the OT came out and they got one, and it was givin to me as a relic.It's yellow, but it probably was originally green. That thing was played with!  |

You're talking about the Kenner toy that came out in 1980 called "The Force" Lightsaber:  You can find them on ebay from time to time. They were made in yellow, green, and red. If you have a yellow one, it's quite rare. I always wanted one, but never owned one  Master Caine has one:

I remember those. My bro had two red and I had two green. After a few "spirited" battles we were told we couldn't have anymore because we kept breaking them. |

i'm not sure if that is the saber i remember. i dont believe it had any electronics to it and the blade wasnt tappered, it was the same diameter from base to tip. but i could be mistaken.

I don't think you're looking at it right. There are no electronics in that saber and the blade doesn't taper...

I've never seen one of these until now(I wasn't even born until '87), but when I was a kid I had a toy saber that was simply a flash light with a rotoscope blade that screwed on the emitter! It had no sound and looked exactly like an Eveready. lol. Oh how technology has improved....
