well guys, ive done some nice customizations in the past and thought i would customize my first saber i bought a couple years ago, well i just royally messed it up! This was supposed to be a single vertical cut in the emiter and the dremel slipped so i tried making it work, well it certainly did not....

does anyone have any ideas to make this look good somehow??!!

It looks good to me as it is! One thing that might work is the addition of a custom PVC shroud put over top of that. The PVC emitter could be made into any shape you like, and then be further modded to incorporate the design that's already there - maybe a smaller, similar design cut into the PVC part and then superimposed on the mod on the hilt?

Yeah I actually think that looks pretty cool, to be honest.  Kinda Mandalorian... or maybe that's just my imagination.

Ah!! An upside down Mando helmet visor! Thank you! I couldn't put my finger on the familiar design.

Custom shroud would work.  I've done one on a dominix and seen a lot of them.  It's pretty easy to do.  Touching up the paint around the cut might be a simple fix, too.  Doesn't look bad, but I think the missing paint might be contributing to that "messy" feel.

I thought it was intentional! I love the silver on black. If anything, you could smooth out the silver parts and show it off. You have the LE version too, so it would look strange without the silver, IMO. if you still think you made a mistake, then rest easy knowing you made a positive-results mistake!

2 ways of going about it if u want it perfectly clean edges find someone with a mill or a drill press with XYZ axis vise.

or the other route would be to get a dremel and slowly clean it up. save your small grinder wheels to get in small areas.
and using needle files or any other files to to celan it up a bit.

I used the dremel method on mine a while back and it works really well

I suggest weathering it. Black, silver and red make for a great weathered saber.  Cool

You guys are so brave with the cutting and weathering of your sabers. I'm not ready for permanent mods yet.

I wouldn't worry too much. It still works right?

If or when you decide to mod it push the led down in the hilt and don't cut the retention screw holes if you're serious about it draw it up then use a white marking pencil to use as a guide line makes it that much easier and the marks from the pencil come off with a mr clean magic eraser.

I have to agree with Big Boss, you have a great opportunity to do some epic weathering to that baby. You have nothing to loose at this point. I would beat the ever living snot out of that saber. Go crazy. Have fun. Some of my best work has been achieved on projects I thought were ruined and did not care about. Let your hair down and go for broke. ANd post pics of course!

Have to give you a point for having the b#lls to go this far with that saber. A dark point since that seems to be the path you are on.

Get some very small files (or a nice diamond file for womens nails..get em at rite-aid )and slowly work the opening to get the edges square(one of the best tools to modify a saber with)

I agree with Darth Cooper, little jewelers' files sets are a tool I feel everyone should invest in. Some patience and a consistant hand can clean your edges right up. It won't take too long on this aluminum either. Throw on a movie that you've seen a dozen times, get settled in, and you'll be good.
