Unfortunately, no. Purple is a mix of red and blue light. A filter can only screen out colors, and a red LED only has red to begin with. The only thing a purple filter would do is make it darker. :-/
Best LED to use filters on is the Adegan Silver, as its a white light, so you have a full spectrum to start with.

I use a purple day blade on my blazing red dark arbiter. But Karmack is right, it just makes the red LED look deeper, yet the tube part of the saber stays purple though. Overall I am pleased with how it looks, purple outer shell with a deep red core.
