The Obsidian doesn't come with a speaker though, does it?

I'm sure it does if you order a saber and have it installed.  Smiley

It's actually a good question--I'll have to chat with Alex to be certain but... yup, it would seem:

* Buy a saber w/ Obsidian = of course it has a saber (as Warlock K noted)
* If you're going for the "DIY" setup... my guess is... uh... no speaker... just like it wouldn't come with an LED, batteries, switch, etc.

But who knows?  Maybe Alex will offer "packages"??!  I don't know.  Maybe he'll make a speaker as a separate product to purchase in the store--hard to say though.

For now though--yeah, it makes sense to assume that the board is just the board.

The installed board comes with a speaker.  The DIY board doesn't come with a speaker.  We offer the speaker/battery pack combo in the DIY Sound section.  I suppose we could sell the individual speakers as well if needed.

Are these speakers better than those that are in converted FXes? Because I do own one and I find the lack of quality... disturbing, they could've been much better imo.

I'm pretty sure the speakers that US supplies are better.

That would've been awesome. Confirmation from the owners of new sabers and ones with Hasbro boards would be even more awesome Tongue And it seems their speaker setups are different depending on the battery type used - Li-ion or AA.

The speakers we use are much higher quality than the ones found in Force FX sabers.  They have to be since the Class D amplifier on our board is much more powerful.

I can echo that for certain, as... I don't even think Master Replicas nor Hasbro have ever RELEASED the specs for their speakers (I've asked, they won't tell)... and to be honest--they leave something to be desired if you use them in non-Force FX sabers.

There is DEFINITELY something to be said for "suiting the speaker to the board".  In this case--Obsidian users will definitely want a speaker that is "made to handle" the output of the board.  Just like other boards have their own specs... so does Obsidian.

For DIY folks--you want a speaker that is at least capable of 2watt output.
