Has anyone taken photos of blades next to a "reference light"...a 60W white-frosted incandescent bulb?

I haven't seen such, but it would be cool.  Take it in an otherwise-dark room, and in a well-lit room.  The blade positioned close to the bulb so they can be compared.  You'll have to adjust your camera exposure and/or Photoshop the photo to represent brightness accurately to what your eye sees.

Photography tip: If your choice is between an overexposed photo (too bright/white-out) or an underexposed photo (too dark), go for underexposed.  You can brighten it on your computer with little loss of photographic detail.  Overexposed photos have colors/details blown-out and it difficult or impossible to recover those colors/details.
