This was my son's first saber. Initiate V2 in CG. It had a busted battery pack and has not worked in quite some time as he is now partial to his Dark Liberator V2 in GB. I decided to rework the wiring. And add in QDs. I also found a sink tube at Home Depot that fit it well. I cut down and trimmed the tube into a shroud. I added leather to the grips. I added a Covertech wheel as a retention screw. And to fit the back of the shroud fit the saber I used some thick felt. It is still completely combat ready.

Very nice Vex! Even my wife, who is notoriously picky about what sabers catch her eye, loves it!

This is a very nice work. Very simple, but it completely changes what the saber used to be and turns it into something entirely new. I love how easily modifiable the Initiates are.

Holy crap, I want that saber badly, what would make it perfect is if you replaced the standard switch with one of the old-school Activation Boxes. Then you would basically have Yoda's saber, could you please post a tutorial?

I plan on doing a simular shroud for one of my Dominix V2. I'll break it down in pics for that one. I didn't take many pics for this shroud.  Basically I took the tube and set it beside the saber. I put tape on the tube for marking. I marked where I wanted the cuts and I used a band saw to make the cuts. I'm not very good at working with metal, but I work with many people whom are. One of them cleaned up all the edges, and then I slipped the saber in and measured for the switch hole and carefully drilled it out. I put the switch in so I could measure for the retention and mount hole on top. The retention was a 8/32 tapped hole while the other hole was 6/32. I had no idea how to measure and drill the holes. Another friend at work did. He used a simular method as I had for cutting the tube. He taped it off and took measurements as the saber was placed with the switch in, and marked and drilled them. I had the Covertech wheel with me and found the other mount screw at work. I had the leather as well, it was a piece of scrap I had the luck of finding a few weeks ago. Once assembled there was a small gap, roughly 1/16 between the shroud and the base of the saber where the pommel goes. I found a roll of thick felt like material that had a peel and stick side. I tried that down and fit it into the base of the shroud. Then installed the harness and components.

That is great!  You would never know it was an Initiate.  I love the leather grips being under the shroud.

Nice saber dude. I love it. Gives the Initiate a whole different look. The leather is nice too. Keep it up. Get you a Dominic V2 and do the same to it. Unless that's already planned. Unless this is just your to go combat saber. Looks good in CG too.

Thanks all, the Dominix V2 will be simular but I'll probably change the shroud design a bit. I'll still be adding leather grips.
