I got regular WiFi now so I don't have to use my phone to upload new pictures. I wouldn't know about your question though. Probably not. Could be wrong.

Depends if it is running straight up Windows 8 or if it is using the stripped-down version that is Windows RT.  If it is actually using Windows 8 then it should work on it.

I'm not sure the Windows phone will be able to do it as the USB port on the phone usually connects the phone to another device. I'm not sure if the phone is capable of communicating with the saber via USB. On top of that, the Windows phone usually requires apps, not programs, so installing the Launcher software might not work. Windows 8 RT is definitely a scaled down version of Win 8, and designed to play nicely with a Windows based PC.

Relan, thanks for volunteering.  Smiley

Seriously though, Windows phones run on Arm processors so that means Windows Phone OS is based on Windows RT.  Even if you had a phone that would accept a USB device (a USB on the go port can do both, my Android tablet does this for example) you can only run apps, not programs (I know it sounds like apps and programs are the same thing but in the Windows space they are totally different.)

Well I've been thinking about getting one any way but I think it'll be a while before I can afford a saber with sound

I had a Windows Phone, basically runs off of Windows RT (For all intents and purposes) and installing programs is a no, much like an android or an iPhone, so no, it won't work Smiley

It's not being a "scaled down version" that's a problem, it's that Windows RT runs on ARM processors and Windows 8 runs on x86 processors.  They're fundamentally different architectures.  Programs written for one won't run on the other any more than English-language text is readable by somebody who only reads Russian.  There are a few tablets that have x86 processors and run Windows 8.  (They're usually bigger and more expensive.)  I'm aware of no phone that does so, and can't imagine why you'd want one that did.

Does that mean no macs either?
A Mac running either a Windows VM (such as with VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop) should run the Obsidian Launcher at near-native speeds; if the Mac is booted entirely into Windows (via Boot Camp) it becomes a standard Windows computer and would be running Obsidian Launcher natively.  Neither of these will ever be the case for an ARM platform, be it Windows RT, iOS, or typical Android devices.  (There is an x86 version of Android, which theoretically could run Obsidian Launcher on a Windows VM, but I don't know that any VM software is available for them at this time; in any event, if you aren't sure if your Android device has an x86 processor, it almost certainly doesn't.)

Point for teaching me a bit more about these infernal devices. Smiley
