::Klae::

With an exaggerated shrug and a stupid grin on her face, she said comically,

"I don't know, we could play it by ear?"

After a good laugh at her quirky moment, she rested her head on her hand, supported on her knee, thinking.

"Well, we should only be about three to four days behind them right? Because this Sato guy contacted Aluro, what the day before we talked to him?"

With her pointer finger she tapped the air several times, her inspiration going from thought to words,

"We could see if there are any spaceport workers who might have seen two men in the last couple days land. Bribe if we need to, what do you think? We could cut right to the chase, forget this S'evid guy, if the Jedi is working on it, we don't need to. We're getting paid, or are going to get paid for finding him and delivering that kriffing crate."

Opening her hand she held it out palm up in question, eyebrows raised.

::Krace::

~Krace chuckled with her at the suggestion.  He nods along as she begins to work the timing out.~

"Yeah, they were probably already on Coruscant when they made the call.  Then they probably were heading to Utapau when we were on our way to Coruscant.  So yes...about 3-4 days, perhaps only one or two if they didn't leave Coruscant until shortly before we got there."

~He smiled and stroked his chin as she continued on.~

"I'm sure a dock worker worker would remember an off-world-er coming in, even if we have to enhance his memory with a little cash.  Especially a merc and a Jedi, though we might want to avoid using that word.  Never know how people are going to respond.  But yes, if we can find him we can offload that thing and book with our payment."

~Krace stares at Klae, watching her idly play with the necklace he got her.  As more thoughts start pouring through his head he stands up.~

"I'll be right back."

~He heads out of the room and to his quarters.  He gets into his clothes dresser and goes rooting through a drawer for something, finally coming out with a thick military ID chain.  It has nothing on it, but it is strongly made to be worn by a soldier, yet it lies flatly against the skin so it is comfortable.  He heads back out to the lounge where Klae is and plops down next to her on the couch.  He moves in close, his hands encircling her neck and his face getting mere inches away from hers.  Krace grins slightly as her face flushes with him getting in so close like this, then backing away as his hands come away with the necklace.  He slides the pendant off the small end of the chain.  He then takes the thicker chain out and works to get the pendants mounting onto the thicker chain.  It fits just barely around the end with a little push and then is able to be slid down the length of the chain.  He reaches in again and snaps the more sturdy chain around her neck, giving her a kiss on the forehead before moving away.  He takes the thin chain and snaps it together and then lays it in her hand.~

"There.  You can keep that one in case you decide to wear something nice and fancy again.  The new one can be adjusted.  It's a little big for you, but it's hanging about in the same as before.  That one can be tightened up to be more close fitting, or you could loosen it up to the end and it would probably hang down between the... umm... err... girls."

~He clears his throat some before moving on.~

"You seem to like wearing it, but I wanted you to have something sturdy to wear it on.  And to be honest, I have a feeling that this may not be just as simple as finding these guys and dropping the crate.  We know what they're trying to do, and it could be dangerous and they may want or need our help.  As long as they're willing to part with the cash, I'm somewhat inclined to help them."

~He crossed his arms and looked into her eyes in anticipation of her reaction.~

::Klae::

A little flattered by his thoughtfulness, and a little flustered at his recent proximity, she replies to his suggestion of helping the two men further,

"Sounds fair. We can decide if that comes up."

Looking down at her necklace, the new chain long enough for her to see the pendant she smiles faintly, his emotional surge evident when he had been attaching the necklace. what the hell... grabbing the front of his jacket she pulls him in for a brief kiss before dodging around him and running up to the cockpit, hiding her bright red cheeks.

Dropping into the pilot's seat, she sighs heavily, staring out at the starlines for a couple minutes. Looking down at the controls and nav computer, she checked them all, making sure they were all nominal before she reclined in the seat, enjoying the view and toying with her necklace.

::Krace::

~Krace smiles and nods, glad she agrees with him.  He watches her play with the pendant on the new chain.  When she moved and grabbed his jacket he braced by instinct, fearing retribution for making her blush, but was shocked when she kissed him.  The moment after their lips met he nearly melted.  Time seemed to stand still as his eyes closed.  He began kissing her back, but a moment later time seemed to snap into motion again and she was breaking away and dashing off.  Never the less he sat there in shock for several long minutes, his fingers absently touching his lips.  Krace was fairly certain they had maybe kissed before, but was pretty sure that both were under the influence of alcohol or something that helped lead them there.  This time though... it had all been her doing, her complete will, and he was going to be able to remember it.  Finally his brain seemed to come back to reality and he blinked a few times, realizing he had been staring off into space for a while.  He took a deep breath, almost like he'd been holding it.  He stood up and looked around, realizing she was gone.  He started talking out loud to himself.~

"Ok, just play it smooth...  That was pretty great, just don't let it go to your head...   Let her have her space for a bit..."

~Krace wandered off to the kitchen to get a snack and try and snap his mind out of what had just happened.~

::Klae::

Dropping out of hyperspace, Klae made the necessary adjustments for the next jump before reengaging the hyperdrive. Walking back to the engine room where TB most likely was, she pointedly ignored Krace, a faint smile playing across her lips. She wondered what he had thought about it, obviously he had some sort of connection to her, with the pendant and his emotional state at placing it on her neck, but she didn't know for sure, or was in denial about just how deep that feeling might go. Maybe she was afraid of losing another person she loved so she held him at arm's length emotionally. Shrugging, not wanting to think about it, she poked her head into the engine room, TB's servos being loud enough from the lounge that she could pick it up with her excellent hearing and subsonic sensitivity.

"Hey, bucket of bolts, I'm going to sleep, you make the next jump for us ok? We're going to Utapau, you can figure it out from there. Don't forget! I don't want to be floating in space in the hotspot for hyperlane adjustments!"

Leaving before it's annoyingly piercing whistle could give her a headache she walks a couple steps to her quarters, shutting the door and pulling off her boots and gunbelt and pants before curling up in bed.

::Krace::

~Sitting in the kitchen munching on a snack Krace hears Klae go on by, but chooses not to say anything as she does.  He could hear her down the hall, seemingly talking to TB about the next leg of the hyperspace jump.  He couldn't catch all the details, but he got the gist of what she was saying.  After he heard her head into her quarters he went to the engine room to check on TB who confirmed to him that he was already taking care of the next calculations of where they should be dropping out approximately and where the next jump would need to be calculated to take them the last bit to Utapau.  He didn't seem at all disturbed by the name and Krace patted him on the head and let the droid know he was going to head to his quarters for a bit of reading and then a nap.  The droid beeped in response and went back to its work.  Krace then headed to his quarters to do just what he said.  He shucked off everything he was wearing, getting down to his boxers before crawling into bed and picking up a pad to continue reading the novel he was reading before.  When he could keep his eyes open no longer he set the pad down on his bedside stand, looking at the where he set it, there was the box for the necklace.  He picked up the box and looked at it for a minute before placing a kiss on it and then laying it back down and closing his eyes for some rest.  He truly hoped that he had just seen the first of some real feelings from her.  Perhaps now both of them might start opening up more.~

::Klae::

Awaking, groggy and still feeling sleep deprived, Klae realized what had woken her: her stomach growled again.

Half asleep she yanked the covers back, rubbing her eyes with her sleeve down over her hand. Walking unsteadily towards the kitchen, and more importantly food, Klae stubs her toe on the doorjamb, yelping and holding her toe for a minute as the pain subsided.

Bleary eyed, she rummaged around the dry food cabinet, her hand coming out with two meal bars. Making a face at one and deciding the other sounded fine she threw the discard back into the cabinet before walking around and plopping down on a stool, the leather seat cool against her legs.

Leaning her head against her hand, she slowly chewed bites of the ration.

::Krace::

~Krace awoke with a start, having heard something through his door open doorway.  It had sounded like a exclamation of some sort.  He threw off the sheet and slipped out of bed.  Walking out his door and around the corner he strolls into the kitchen.  He rubs his eyes and realizes there is Klae, sitting on a stool in her shirt and underwear, meanwhile he is in just his boxers.  Krace feels his heart start to speed up and his blood start to pump a little harder and flashing back to that kiss earlier he realizes that in a moment his choice of clothing is going to leave him with nothing to hide his rising emotions.  He clears his throat and quickly moves over to the kitchen counter, leaning up against it so he has something covering him from the waist down between him and Klae.  Looking over at the chrono on the wall he then speaks.~

"Umm... Mornin Klae.  Guess neither of us is doing much sleeping in eh?"

~She shrugged and then nodded a bit in response.  He could see she was also a little flushed and embarrassed about him coming in dressed as he was, especially with what she was, or more accurately, wasn't wearing.  Krace moved over to the caf machine, still using the counter to shield himself.~

"Cup of caf for ya?"

~He smiled at her vigorous nodding and began making a pot.  Once brewed he pulled out a couple mugs and filled them, then fixing both the way they liked.  He slid back over to where she was sitting across the counter from him and he placed the mug in front of her.  Klae smiled and picked up the mug with enthusiasm, taking a long sip to wash down her last bite of her ration bar.  His stomach let out a growl, letting him know the ration bar he had earlier had only been a stopgap to how hungry he really was.~

"Hey uh, would you get me one of the red meal packs down from the cabinet over there?  You like the red ones right?  I'll share it with ya."

~She nodded to his request, also nodding that she liked the red ones.  As she set down her mug of caf to reach up to the cabinet, he took a sip of his own.  Thankfully he finished swallowing or he would have choked.  Klae was stretching and reaching up to the cabinet to get the meal pack and it was causing her shirt to lift slightly, showing her bare lower back and midriff, and also causing her underwear to ride up just slightly from completely covering her butt.  His heart went into overdrive and he was pretty positive she would be able to hear it hammering in his chest.  He took some deep breaths as she came back down with the meal pack.  Krace nodded his thanks, unable to speak at the moment and he turned sharply so as not to expose his front and went over to the machine to reconstitute the meal.  It beeped after a few seconds and he pulled out the pack out and came back over with a couple forks.  Pulling open the meal pack a little steam rose and they both dug in, eating in relative silence.  After they finished the food and their mugs of caf and he cleaned up and Klae said she was going to go get dressed.  As she went to leave, Krace made a choice.  He walked swiftly towards her, to catch up, calling out as he did so.~

"Hey Klae...."

~As she turned he gently but firmly pushed her up against the doorway of the kitchen and leaned in and kissed her, closing his eyes after he made contact.  One hand was under her shirt, pushing against her bare stomach when he had pushed her up against the wall, his other hand was on the side of her neck.  The kiss was a little deeper than the one she had given him, but not too rough or forceful.  She responded back to the kiss after the initial shock.  Not wanting to, but knowing he needed to before he seemed like he was going too fast, he broke the kiss after several long seconds, longer than their other kiss had been.  He opened his eyes, looking at her flushed face and cleared his throat before giving her a little wink and a smile and strolling down the hall back to his dark bedroom.  Krace went inside, still leaving the door open and crawled back in bed. He spoke quietly to himself as he picked up the pad to read and kill a little more time before they got to their destination.~

"Well, I think that will clear any doubts..."

::Klae::

This was SO not good, this should never have happened. She meant the kiss as a thank you, not invitation. She can't lose another person she loves, this can't happen. Still leaning against the wall, she puts an arm over her eyes. Pajamas, from now on, top and bottom. Dropping her hand to the side, a look of misery on her face, she looked at the chrono, they'd be dropping out of hyper over Utapau in just a little bit. With an exasperated huff, Klae stalks down to her room, uncaring if Krace hears her she yells over to TB in the cargo bay,

"TB! Get ready for a drop out of hyper! I want you in that engine room with your little beady kriffing eyes on those dials and full diagnostics running!"

Roughly grabbing fresh clothes, Klae stalks to the 'fresher, and slams on the sonic shower. Gritting her teeth painfully she covers her antenepalps with her hands until the brief moment is over. Throwing on underclothes, tank, baggy green pants, and her boots, she throws her dirty clothes in the corner of her room where the basket was for laundry on her way around, avoiding Krace's room, to the cockpit.

Just as she sat down the Hound shuddered briefly as it dropped from hyperspace to realspace, the planet of Utapau large in the viewport. A frown creased her face as she concentrated on work, there was a reason she did that, so kriffing things like what just happened wouldn't - happen. Swearing to herself as she opened the channel to Utapau airspace control she stated their ship's transponder and permission to dock at the Pau City spacedock.

After some tense few moments the controller allowed entry, directing her to an open bay. Replying with a curt thanks, she throttled the beast into the atmosphere and landed them - somewhat less smooth than her normal flawless landing - in an open bay next to several other craft in the adjacent bays. Shutting down the freighter's systems, Klae shut the door to the cockpit on her way out.

As she walked by Krace's room she said casually,

"We've landed, let's go find this Sato guy and his merc."

Throwing on her leather jacket and gunbelt, she secured her blaster in the holster, clipping the leg strap, it's weight a comfort and distraction from the horrible mess that was her and Krace's tense relationship at the moment. It just can't happen, next soldier I find, I'll prove it. I can't get close to a business partner, not after what happened to his parents. Squeezing her eyes closed, putting her fingers over them, she took a deep breath.

Sighing and rolling her shoulders, she stalked over to the exit ramp, throwing it to the lowering position. Striding down the ramp towards a group of security she raises her hands and eyebrows,

"Hey guys, we're just here on business, not to cause trouble. Promise. Just ask my partner." With that she threw a thumb back at ramp, assuming Krace would be right behind her.

::Krace::

~He listened as Klae stormed around, also yelling at TB.  Apparently he had crossed a line, something he would have to confront her about and fix later.  He let out a sigh and put the pad he was reading down, looking to the chrono and realizing that they must be closer to Utapau than he thought.  Once she stormed into the refresher he got up and went to the small sink in his quarters and threw a little water on his face and sponged himself off before finding a fresh change of clothes.  After getting dressed he strapped on his guns and pulled on his jacket and boots.  He made his way to the engine room, getting ready for landing.  They dropped out of hyperspace on their mark and the engines winded down and changed pitch as they went to sublight drive.  He held on tight as their landing approach was a little choppy.  Understandably so as the surface was quite windy and this was a big ship.  When they finished their rough landing he headed back to his quarters.   Krace pulled the slicing device he had been carrying out of his other pair of pants and put it back in the cabinet with the others and this time pulled out a little more powerful one, sliding it away in a pocket again.  He looked over at Klae as she came by and nodded.  Before leaving his room he got into his weapons cabinet and made sure all the charge packs he was carrying were full, also picking up a EMP grenade.  He hoped he wouldn't have to use it since they were harder to come by, but better safe than sorry.  He swung by the engine room as he headed for the ramp to follow Klae.~

"TB, when we leave, full security lockdown.  I don't know enough about this place.  Keep the sentry guns on passive-reactive, but monitor anything or anybody that might get close enough to set them off.  I don't want any accidents."

~TB trilled his affirmative response and Krace headed for the landing ramp~

::Continued from Utapau::
::Klae::
::Alone on the ship with TB::

Locking and resetting the alarm to the Hound, a pointless habit really, nothing would trip the alarm in cold vacuum. Taking a deep breath, Klae squared her shoulders before turning stiffly and walking up to the cockpit. Banging a fist into the door node, the panel slid soundlessly aside as she stepped in and sat in her pilot's seat. Rubbing the arm rests of the worn chair, she looked down at the lit panels in front of her. Rolling her shoulders and relaxing, Klae flipped on the comm to Utapau's air control, gaining allowance to leave the spaceport and atmosphere before cutting the connection and firing up the sublights.

Mechanically, Klae lifted the freighter effortlessly into the crisp morning air completely focused on the feel and sound of the Slice Hound thrumming around her. The normalcy of guiding the ship up and out of the sinkhole made the tension release from her shoulders like the exhaust of the engines. Taking out the data chip, Klae connected it to the main terminal, pulling up the comm frequency for the Murky Rancor she connected with it's channel and sent an encrypted recording,

"I'll be hitting the lanes in a minute. I should only need twenty minutes tops. Be safe. Klae out."

With an edge of adrenaline kicking in at the prospect of fulfilling her task, Klae turned on the intercom as she plugged in Krace's coordinate's for Drexel's chop shop into the nav, ripping out of Utapau's atmosphere,

"TB, I want that engine growling at all times. We're headed for a small station and it'll take a few jumps, so make sure everything is running on your end and I'll fly us true."

Cutting the com, she throttled up the hyperdrive until all she could see were starlines. Making sure all gauges and readouts read nominally, Klae got up and exited the cockpit. Keeping herself occupied on the solo flight wouldn't be too hard...

::Klae::

Pulling off her heeled boots, Klae set them on the couch in the lounge before padding towards the kitchen. Picking up the plastic that had protected Krace's clothes, she grabbed the rest of the disposable items from the make up session and tossed them in the small compactor. Washing and wiping down the rest of the surfaces, Klae made sure the sanitizer ran. Laying her palms flat on the counter top, Klae leaned her weight on them.

Reinforcing her bedrock of truths mixed with lies, she ran through her plan for meeting Drexel and getting everyone safely through Imperial security.

Pushing off the counter, Klae walked back to her quarters, a small huff of amusement at the cot with disheveled bedding laying half on - half off of it. Rolling up the bedding, Klae tossed it in the basket with her other laundry before walking over to Krace's room and stuffing his dirty clothes in with hers in the cleaning utility in the refresher's wall.

Stepping lightly around the corner to her room, Klae double checked her duffel before hiking it over her shoulder and taking it to the couch and shoving in Krace's armorweave vest into it as well, it could mean the difference between coming off of Dromund Kaas alive or not.

Flopping onto the couch, Klae slumps comfortably into the cushions, laying her head back and falling into a restive sleep.

::Klae::

Sitting up quickly from her awkward sleeping position, Klae walks up to the cockpit noticing she'd be due for another nav adjustment soon. Waiting it out, Klae gazed peacefully at the starlines gracefully flowing around the freighter. Dropping the throttle, Klae makes the necessary changes for the next jump before throwing it back, the acceleration shoving her into the seat back. With a small smile of enjoyment Klae's violet eyes light up with the brilliant display of stars. The wonder of hyperspace never losing it's edge.

Feeling the kink in her neck, Klae tries rubbing it out before heading back out to the lounge. Stopping in the open area in front of the couches, she moves slowly through a series of stretches, limbering up her muscles and working out, preparing her body for whatever might be thrown at them during their insurgency into Dromund Kaas.

Standing up and feeling rather warm and constricted in her leather pants, Klae pads over to grab her heeled boots before walking over to the 'fresher. Casting off her nicer clothes, she pulls up her dreads and enjoys a long shower. After toweling off, Klae reaches into the clean clothes and grabs out favorites: tall thick socks, olive colored cargo pants, a soft off white tank, and some underclothes. Laying them over her arm, she casually walks over to her room, sometimes it was nice to be the only person on board...

Taking her time, Klae dresses and pulls on a particularly heavy duty pair of work boots, if she was going to go through hell she'd be damn sure to be comfortable. Taking the cast off heeled boots, Klae trods over and throws them into her duffel, dressing up might be advantageous for her sometime during the mission. Contentedly knotting her dreads into a cascade over her left shoulder, Klae sits down at the game table before adjusting her gunbelt to rest comforatably while she relaxed.

"TB, get your whining servos over here and show me how badly you can whoop my ass at anything," the last turning into a dismal mutter as TB rolled in with a quiet trill. Pulling up a game of holochess, Klae puts up her ankle onto her knee and hunkers down for losing, trying in vain to learn how to calculate like the droid. A couple games later, Klae flicks off the board.

Well, that was awful.

"Alright, back to whatever you find to occupy yourself, I've had enough losing for a full Corellian revolution." Dismissing TB's apologetic whistle with a hand wave, Klae walked up to the cockpit. Sitting down, Klae makes sure the nav computer has the coordinates for TB's jump to dead space and then disconnects the data chip and slips it into one of her secure gunbelt pouches. Sighing and propping her feet up on the edge of the dash, Klae resigns herself to waiting out the little time she had left until she dropped from hyperspace at Draxel Griff's chop shop.

Drax is going to give me what I require and then I'm golden, but there is no way I'm letting myself be captured without a fight.

::Draxel Griff’s Trade Station::

Dropping out of hyper, Klae shakes her head amused, good old greedy Drax, doesn’t want to give up his prime spot for picking up ships…

Tapping the intercom, Klae’s stomach starts to flutter in preparation for her task,

“TB get up here, it’s show time.” As the astromech trundled up to the cockpit, Klae quickly filled it in on the plan before hopping out of the chair and allowing the droid to fly the ship towards the private docking ring Draxel only gives clearance to his favorite customers, or those he owes favors.

Jogging quickly to her room, Klae throws on her favorite leather jacket and musses up her appearance slightly, giving her the look of someone a little desperate. Hoping Draxel still had a weakness for a pretty face, Klae quickly walked over to the couch where her duffel was waiting and chucked it over one shoulder.

Feeling TB distend the umbilical to the “back door” Klae took a deep shivering breath of anticipation and walked steadily over to the airlock. Hearing the umbilical equalize, Klae punches the door node, the thick, sealed door opening inward. Briskly walking through, Klae taps the disconnect for the station, and TB swiftly pulled away from the station and jumped into hyperspace.

::Continued from the Crimson Reaper::
::Klae::

As she sat down and looked at the read outs aboard the Reaper, they fell from the tunnel of hyperspace and with a slight jerking of the practically crippled ship stalled into real space. Her ship was waiting there, right on time. Opening the comm system to the Hound's private and encrypted channel, Klae spoke briskly knowing that T7 was awaiting orders,

"Get us locked with this junker yesterday T7, I need to have us hitting the lanes in two minutes, get it done!" As the Hound mechanically sidled over to latch with the Reaper, Klae did one scan of the surrounding area, no activity. Setting the ship to automatically disengage the umbilical when the command was sent via the Hound, she jumped up and grabbed her full pack and went out to the main room where the airlock was situated to the side.

With a grim look of satisfaction, she heard the lock of the Hound's umbilical locking and sealing. Tapping the airlock controls, she ushered Sato and the Watcher in followed by Krace and Eli, then herself. With one more look around the main cabin she sprinted down the umbilical after everyone. Disengaging the umbilical after the airlock resealed, the jogged up to the cockpit past T7's welcoming, whistling, metal frame, tossing her pack to land beside the main room's terminal out of the way.

Asking as she did so, "How long til those charges go off, Krace?" Getting a very short amount of time in reply she smiled and sat into her favorite chair, the pilot's seat. Flipping on the intercom, she said as she deftly plotted their set of jumps to get them back to charted Republic lanes,

"Welcome everyone to the Slice Hound, Corellia's premiere fleet would like to say thank you for joining us for a ride this fine cycle. This is your pilot speaking and I request that everyone prepare for a jump to hyperspace." As she finished, she had completed all of the preflight checks and nav computer equations needed, throttling up, the Slice Hound blasted out of real space an instant before the Reaper obliterated itself into a million glimmering shards of debris, exploding in an unseen, yet spectacular display of hypermatter volatility.

With a grin of exuberance she leaned back and met Eli's gaze across the nav computer console. Finally out of sight of the Watcher, she laid her arm on the console, giving Eli's hand a squeeze as he took hers. Speaking quietly she said with a sigh,

"We did it. Just one more thing left: the trial. Are you ready?"
