So... I know that filters are no replacement for a coloured LED however there do appear to be many interesting shades available.
Has anyone experimented with these?
A big company seems to be Lee Filters - are the filter colours in the catalogues representative of the light produced or the colour of the filter itself?

Do you know what their swatch books consist of?
Is it samples of the filters themselves? Or just colour representations?

The swatch book is full of the actual filters. And there are TONS of colors! You can basically get every color except for red! I've experimented a lot and I've been able to get tons of colors such as: Arctic Blue Cyan Silvery-Blue Blue Some Dark Blue-Green color (kind of like an aqua) Green Viridian Pink Magenta Violet Purple (really dim actually  ) Yellow Golden Yellow Amber Orange Silver Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Make sure you use a mid grade blade though. UltraEdge is only good for certain filter colors. Violet is NOT one of them! Although yellow and blue are really nice with it. Oh and next time you have more to add to a post try the "modify" feature in the top right corner. This prevents double-posting  |

Wow! Thanks! i'm definitely going to try to get my hands on one of those then!
(Really - No red? Not even with those odd theatrical red filters - that look sort of brownish in normal light? That's a shame)

Haha no problem! And don't worry too much about the double posting. Just keep it in mind And definitely check out those filters!!! It'll take experimentation and research to find the great ones but it'll definitely be worth it! Also experiment with the color discs that US supplies. I use them to get my Silver-Blue color. |

I didn't say I would. I just ordered a Prophecy in Silver and I'm thinking of posting a review with filters and stuff. I can't now though because I'm on vacation haha. I get back home in August so maybe then unless I find an earlier opportunity |

Ok - wow! That swatch book is amazing! (There are so many shades of every colour! There's even one that looks like a sodium street lamp!)
I just asked them where to get one of these swatch books, not expecting much since there wasn't a reply - and it just turned up in the post!
It's just the right size to cut a couple of filters from as well! (The reds are actually really nice - if a little dark)
There are so many greens and blues! I'm going to be playing with this for hours!

If anyone else wants to get one of these swatch books, I know that the USA store has a deal where you can use coupon code SWATCH at checkout to get them for $0.01 each (limit of two), plus shipping. I was able to order two of them, shipped, with tax, for $5.50 or so.

Bit of a necro-post here, but the Lee Filters site wouldn't ship a swatchbook to Canada; I did however find another company that ships to Canada for free (no shipping charges even!). http://www.rosco.com/canada/filters/SBRequest.cfm?type=roscoluxNo idea what it will be like, but for my Canadian friends it's an option. I'll update when I receive it (or since it's free, you can just order your own). |

Good stuff...I got mine free also I am working on a sequencer that may produce some interesting results...but this is for a show piece and not a dueling saber...colors are fun to play with...you get some surprising results. |

I keep wondering how bright & how well the colors would show with the new LEDengin , it looks like the cool white puts out 850 lumens! & I've been considering color discs for a combo as well , thanks for the thread |

Ok, I gotta ask, I live in NY, how long should i expect these filters to take to deliver, I ordered from LEE, Apollo, and just put a order in with Rosco. I'm hoping someone on the east coast could give me an estimate on how long it took them to get the swatch books.

I just started my own thread about these filters, there are literally probably over 100 filters in the swatch book, as soon as my new sabers in Adegan Silver come in on thursday then I'm going to post a bunch of different pictures experimenting and taking requests.
