Would this method work for a dark apprentice? I'm trying to make a replica saber for a character I rp as on another forum.
Also how does the PVC stay on the hilt?
Method working on an Apprentice would just mean using larger PVC pipe.
As to holding it on, there are a couple of ways:
Friction fit-Likely won't stand up to dueling
Adhesives-May not bond the PVC to metal very well
Set screws-Would require drilling into the Apprentice to make work, or matching up to the blade set screw and/or covertec

Okay this may be an old post but I have a serious question.

Does anyone know where one can get 1 1/4” schedule 35 pvc??? Online or at a store because all i can find are elbows or diameters that are too big.

I made the mistake of buying schedule 40 and the inner diameter was too small so I’ve spent the last day and a half sanding it out a bigger ID because I’m not a dad with an Autozone for a garage.

If anyone has any links or knowledge on where to buy one, or even how to make the sanding process easier please let me know! Save me srams, you’re my only hope.

On my PVC hilt, I used a flange adapter from the sink section.
Not sure what grade it is, though

Just gonna put this out there in case anyone does wanna do this technique with sch 40.

Your dremel will be your best friend. Any sanding bit doing 20,000 rpm will sand off a good amount of pvc so here's my technique.

1. Cut out your design.
2. Take your hilt and put the top of it underneath the pvc to trace the hilts outer diameter on the pvc's inner.
3. Sand the ID to match your trace erase that sharpie line completely but keep in mind to not go further into the shroud. The height of the bit should be the farthest you go. Wash off the dust and test the fit. Where the hilt stops is where you trace another line for you to sand off.

My mistake was going in deeper, it made it hard for me to tell which parts I needed to sand.

4. Repeat.
5. Hopefully profit.

I used a method similar to this to make my Initiate V2 into a Yoda style saber.  I'll post pics when I take some.
