Katee Sackhoff may be best known for her role on Battlestar Galactica, but the actress appears well on the road to becoming a big-screen action hero as well. Last year, she held her own against Vin Diesel in Riddick, and she’s already onboard for the all-female Expendables-esque action film from producer Adi Shankar (Dredd).

More specifically, Sackhoff has made it clear that she’s a fan of comic books and hopes to appear in a superhero film someday. The actress has continually name-dropped characters like Daredevil villain Typhoid Mary and even auditioned to play Wonder Woman.

Now, in an interview with Total Film, the prospect of playing a comic book character came up once again. Here’s what Sackhoff had to say:

“I would love to play any of these characters. I’d love to play Wonder Woman. I remember auditioning for the Wonder Woman television show and being told that I wasn’t the Wonder Woman type, but if I wanted to play the best friend, I could audition for that. I remember thinking to myself, ‘You obviously haven’t seen my work!’ [laughs] I would love to do that. I’m obsessed with Jinx. I would love to play Harley Quinn. I just think it’s amazing. I mean I think I might give away my firstborn to have an opportunity to play Harley Quinn.”

When asked about her favorite comic book film in the same interview, Sackhoff specifically mentioned Warner Bros.’ Batman series. So the fact that she seems so passionate to play one of the most popular female Gotham City residents makes sense, especially since the character – a staple of the comics, animated series and video games since her debut in the early 1990s – has yet to be brought to life in live-action. Sackhoff went on to describe why she’s drawn to the villainous character.

“I love trying to understand the villain, and trying to understand the things they do and why they do them, and I’ve always found her and The Joker, you almost can’t understand them. And it makes it so much more interesting because everything’s fair game, and I love that. I loved the usefulness of her, I thought that was interesting, and I just think that it’s a fantastic character.”

Sackhoff previously provided voice talent as Detective Sarah Essen in DC’s 2011 animated release Batman: Year One. It’s not a stretch to think that the company would bring her onboard to play another character in a future project. After all, Batman vs. Superman is expected to blow the DC film universe wide open. While a character like Harley Quinn will likely not factor into that project (unlike Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman), Warner Bros. will need to introduce a host of new characters when the inevitable solo film starring Ben Affleck’s Batman comes around. Plus, there’s always the chance that Harley Quinn could pop up on Fox’s Gotham series, focusing on young Jim Gordon.

However, if DC hopes to bring Sackhoff onboard as any character in the future, they may wish to act quickly. Marvel has already declared its interest in the actress, and with a Daredevil series in the works at Netflix, there’s still a chance that Sackhoff could play Typhoid Mary or another character in any number of Marvel film or television productions.

In the meantime, Sackhoff said that her Riddick character may appear in future films, but with both the Marvel and DC Cinematic Universes expanding in a big way in the next couple years, there’s every possibility that Sackhoff could land a comic book role in the near future. Only time will tell which character she ends up bringing to life when and if it does happen.

Which superhero or supervillain role would you like to see Sackhoff play? Sound off in the comments section below.

Batman vs. Superman hits theaters on July 17, 2015.

Yeah, no.

Katee Sackhoff is in a niche where she plays serious, action chick characters, and she's good at it (despite the utter crapfest that was the latest Riddick movie). Unless she can play a happy-go-lucky, fun-loving character, I will remain unconvinced and say no.

You know who could have convincingly played Harley Quinn?

Brittany Murphy. Too bad she died, though.

I'd be willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.  If for no other reason than that she has clearly thought/read about the character quite a lot.  She's already got a solid base to build the film character off of.

I do agree the latest Riddick was underwhelming.  I don't think it was Sackhoff's fault, though.

The only thing that made Riddick marginally watchable was the brief shot of Katee's dirty pillows, and even then, it wasn't so great.

My biggest beef with the movie was Riddick getting a pet. WHY DID HE HAVE TO HAVE AN ALIEN DOG?!?!?!?!

Stupid, stupid, stupid...

As for Katee Sackhoff in a super role?...hmmm...perhaps...

Blackcat?

or

Poison Ivy?

But I could see her as Harley...as not every female in a super costume or role needs to look like a teenage porn star IMHO   Roll Eyes

From the first scene where the alien dog escaped and joined him you knew (as in KNEW) exactly what was going to happen to it.

All that aside, I didn't mind Riddick. Yeah, I was a little disappointed that there wasn't anything particularly new added to his story, but still good to spend a couple of hours on. Katee Shirthoff was just a little bonus.

Heh, you know it's just as well I wasn't writing the script. I don't think I could have resisted adding in a different ending scene for Santana... "What you do not smell is called Mud Demon poison. It is odorless, tasteless, dissolves instantly in liquid, and is among the more deadly poisons known to man... All right. Where is the poison? The battle of wits has begun. It ends when you decide and we both drink, and find out who is right...and who is dead."

My feelings exactly.  I do kinda wish they'd have added something new and exciting to the story, but alas, they didn't.

Dahl: So the poison was in your goblet all along?

Riddick: The poison was in both - I've spent the last few cycles building up an immunity to Mud Demon poison...

FTFY

Also, the appropriate response would be:

Dahl: "And to think, all that time it was your cup that was poisoned."
Riddick: "They were both poisoned. I spent the last few weeks building up an immunity to Mud Demon Poison."

EDIT: Damnit, Ninja'd.
