Man of Steel was a very polarizing film for fans and critics, but whether you loved it or hated it, director Zack Snyder’s new take on Superman at the very least successfully launched what is soon to become a DC Comics shared cinematic universe. And that’s something many fans have been long been waiting for.

Ignoring Green Lantern and putting Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy behind us, the sequel Man of Steel, currently dubbed Batman vs. Superman, is introducing not only the caped crusader but Wonder Woman as well – an iconic character yet to debut on screen theatrically. Gal Gadot earned the honor of taking that role and she’ll likely be playing the character for two more films afterwards.

Gadot, recognizable for her key role as Gisele Harabo in the last few Fast & Furious films, brings a real-life military background and a modeling career with her to the role of Princess Diana of Themyscira – if she goes by that name in Zack Snyder and screenwriter David Goyer’s cinematic universe. Gadot, while appearing again on the Good Evening with Gai Pines show in Israel, revealed some details regarding her contract with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment.

According to the translation by Batman-News‘ source, the actress will earn $300,000 for her appearance in Batman vs. Superman which leads us to believe that her role may involve minimal screen time or the studio is embracing the Marvel Studios model of signing talent for cheap and for the long-term. She also admitted that her multi-picture deal involves three films.

The ambitious and exciting project begins filming in May giving the film plenty of time to meet its newly delayed release date of summer 2016. Recent rumors, ranging from casting to franchise planning, indicate that the studio may be considering filming Batman vs. Superman back-to-back with Justice League though as per usual, absolutely nothing on this front has been confirmed. If true however, Gal Gadot’s intro in BvS will set herself up for a larger part in Justice League where she could potentially be joined by Aquaman and a new Green Lantern – if rumors are anything to go by in this day and age.

Still, it’s good for fans to see Warner Bros. planning ahead and taking steps to get more of their beloved key characters on screen. It’s just a matter of time now before we see them team together as Justice League against a greater threat. The question now is whether the three-pic deal could ever involve a Wonder Woman solo feature or if she’s being reserved only for team-ups. Excited?

Still think Gina Carano would have been a better choice, but I'm willing to give Gadot a fair shot.  She did well in the F&F films.  I bet she pulls it off as Wonder Woman too.

After watching F&F6 (which, admittedly, was only because I wanted to see Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot in action for once), I have come to the conclusion that Gadot... is pretty freaking awesome. I wish she got a bigger part in the movie, though I understand why she didn't.

Gina Carano was good too (and her fight scene was... damn) but some of her lines came off a little more wooden compared to Gadot, IMO. Still, she is a good actress, but after watching the movie, my personal thought is that Gadot is my first pick for Wonder Woman, and I hope she does well. She had no bumps in F&F6 whatsoever.

At the same time, I saw an interview with her where she said she wanted to do more stunts in F&F6 and was badgering the filmmakers about it... that's a level of enthusiasm that will come in handy for a role as huge as Wonder Woman.

(I figured this was more an addition than a full article)

Gadot Signed For ‘Justice League’ & ‘Wonder Woman’ Solo Film

Good things come to those who wait, and for fans of Batman vs. Superman and the heroine known as Wonder Woman, it may be truer than ever. But even though the chance to see Gal Gadot in the iconic role has been postponed for almost an extra year, the actress recently confirmed that she was committed to portray the character in not one, but three films for Warner Bros./DC.

No additional details seem to have been confirmed, other than WB and DC are taking a page out of Marvel’s book in saving pay where possible, and that the three films in which Gadot will appear are not a total mystery. First comes Batman vs. Superman, followed by the long-anticipated Justice League team-up film, and a stand-alone Wonder Woman movie rounding out the trio.

The report comes courtesy of Variety, who claim that the previously reported 3-picture deal is confirmed by their sources. They add the confirmation of the three previously mentioned films – BvS, JL, then a solo WW – as well as their belief that Gadot stands to make $300,000 for each of the three films, not just her first appearance. If true, then there is no question WB and DC have managed to balance out the cost of landing a major talent like Ben Affleck (and whichever rumored A-lister they land on for Lex Luthor).

If the implication, then, is that Gadot’s presence in all three films is at all comparable, then the story being crafted to introduce both her and Batman, not to mention the rest of the Justice League members is more a mystery than ever. Rumor has it that Batman vs. Superman won’t just feature a cameo of Gadot’s ‘Diana’ as some had initially thought, but an armored appearance. Could she play a larger role than may have been suspected?

All things considered, the films named as the basic structure of Gadot’s deal aren’t too surprising; BvS was already confirmed, and the rumors of a Justice League movie being filmed back to back with the Man of Steel sequel only gained momentum when production was delayed 10 months. If Warner Bros. has decided that a team-up was the best way to introduce their superhero roster (a novel idea we had from the start), then there was no doubt that Gadot’s solo Wonder Woman movie would come after the team assembled.

Even so, it would seem that there at least signs of a strategy and road map coming into view at Warner Bros./DC. And if that’s the case, is this even more evidence that the likes of Aquaman, Cyborg, and other League members could be expected to stand on their own come 2017 and beyond? Only time will tell.

What we do know is that Gadot will have another year to approach the high physical standard set by Henry Cavill – good news for any and all actors who may be signing deals in the coming months. We’ve voiced our opinion that Gadot’s size won’t make or break her portrayal of the iconic superheroine, but more time to train is always welcome. Not to mention the time to figure out exactly where her character came from in Snyder’s budding universe.

What do you think of the proposed plan? Does a Man of Steel continuation, moving to a Justice League story, followed by standalone films seem like a plausible plan? Or would you still prefer DC and WB to follow Marvel’s formula? Share your thoughts in the comments.
