Hey guys! I just wanted to ask if it was cheaper to send in a stunt saber and get obsidian sound there, or just buy an obsidian saber?

It's cheaper to get sound when you order a saber rather than sending one in for an upgrade. The last quote I saw was about $150 to get it upgraded to sound and $15 for shipping it back to you. It's also extra for AV switch, quick disconnect, etc.

Do you like the hilt a lot or do you want a new one? Technically, it is cheaper to upgrade then buy a whole new saber, but if you want, you can spend $50/100 more and get a new saber. It's your choice.

I pertionaly don't mind doing the work my self. But again that takes gaving the tools on hand to do so. But its really up to you. There is the cost of the obsidian the av switch buck puck speaker 2 li ion cells and battery pack. By then your looking at 180$ then there is the cost of sending it to them then the servace charge for the work and sending if back. So... by the end it would be close to the same cost to get a new saber with sound. Not to mention less than half the wait time.
But that's my 2¢ what ever that's worth to you

Always save for and buy the Obsidian from Ultrasabers to keep the costs minimal. It's always been worth it for me anyway.

if you dont want to spend 200-300 dollars, only 150, then upgrade. its cheaper in the long run.  |

Yah. It gets pricy. The obsidian board its self is 128$ so your paying 28$ for the instalation not to mention the av switch that's another 15$ on top. So if you know how to do the soldering its a little cheeper and you only have to pay for one shipping cost. |

The upgrade isn't bad, but the shipping can run anywhere from an extra $40-60 if you send it back again. Always best to order what you have in mind to save a little coin.

Do I have to get an AV switch?
If you go from stunt to sound, you'll have a hole in your hilt that fits a guarded latching switch. You could get an AV switch, but US will have to drill the switch hole bigger for the AV switch. If you get the guarded momentary switch, it will be a direct swap. |
