How to change sound fonts

Ok new to using the launcher. I've got two sabers with sound. Both new, one has emerald one not. How on earth do I change the sound fonts? I've figured out the emerald and color changes but how to use the other sounds is eluding me. I've downloaded the fonts and unzipped them and if I plug in my saber using the sound board I get the window with fonts to the left and settings to the right and I can change those but I don't know how to transfer that to the saber. Thanks.

Hi Greywalker,

Once you've copied the fonts across to the right panel that you want, you then have to write them to the saber.

Two important tips!

1. Charge your batteries first - I can't stress how important that is, and it's usually the thing people forget to do. My guess is most problems are caused by this. The one time - the ONLY time - I've ever had problems with the launcher was when I tried to make changers to a new saber without charging it first.

2. Watch the video that Emory made. If you follow the steps, it should work just fine.

We'll that's what I thought, figured it would be the same as changing the colors, just pick and click.  However, the write button is Greyed out.

Can you take a screen capture so I can see what's showing?

There is also the down arrow button on the toolbar you can use to write fonts.

I can't check at the moment as I've got drives connected to my USB port, but from memory the only time I've found the write button greyed out is if the saber is disconnected (eg, like an ejected drive).

Yes, it sounds definitely like a disconnected (or unrecognized) saber. Waiting for your screenshot so that we can figure out what's wrong with it.

I agree with Racona Nova and Brian64. Greyed out buttons sounds like a disconnected 'saber to me as well.

Is there a particular order I'm supposed to follow like when connecting the the emerald board?  I have connected it in the same way, saber on, plug it in, open launcher. I'll get a screen shot once the wife comes back. I have to use her laptop and she took it with her. I'm all Mac so my computer is useless for sabers.

Yes, it's the same process for both boards. In my case I use a different USB port for each board as well.

Hmm. Ok. Well as soon as I get a chance to try again I'll grab some pics

If there is no serial number displayed near the saber image at the top, then it means the launcher hasn't recognised your saber.

That's probably one of the easiest ways to determine if the Launcher and saber are talking to each other.

Your video that you linked to shows us for version 2. Is it the same for the new update? (My first saber just shipped out today so I'm also learning all I can)

I think Im also having the same issue or similar. I bought a Guardian emerald about 2 days ago and today was the first time I wanted to use the obsidian launcher for changing the sounds. When I open it I does not see my sith file that i download it on the desktop. I see it on the desktop but on the launcher it does not nor any other font folder that I download for soundfonts in the website. 4


I figured out the color changes in the emerald driver but the soundfonts it is not showing my files that i downloaded.

You need to browse to your unzipped files manually. The launcher does not browse your computer for new Obsidian sound or Emerald setting files automatically.
Also, make sure you use the USB port on the soundboard to change files and the USB port on the Emerald Driver to change colours.

I'm working through some similar issues with my new Red Scorpion (Emreald) w/Sound.

I've sucessfully changed Emerald Configs... No Problem there.

But when I tried to change Obsidian Sound Fonts:
The Application Does See and Talk to my saber.
I am able to change the Values on the right pane and update my Saber.
And it will even let me click the "Write to Saber",  but then it gives me a Connection Error...

At this point I'm leaning toward the "Batteries Need Charging" direction.
And my batteries are in the charger even as I type this...
