I know if I leave my saber with the batteries in it will eventually die forever. But how long does that take? Because I know I will be powering on and swinging my saber at least once every day. So would it be okay to leave them in under those circumstances? Also, the indicator on my charger turns green within 5 minutes of plugging them in. Shouldn't it take longer?

If you are firing it up daily you will be fine to run them till they die. If you have an emerald always on av switch I would suggest keeping the batteries in charger regardless but it's ok to run them until they die. If your not firing it up daily I would say to keep them in the charger ... I have 3 sabers and one charger I just rotate battery sets to the charger

Okay thanks! And when it does die it just wont be bright anymore? Like what's a good indication that it's time for a charge?

If they are standard batteries alkaline or nimh you will see some color fading before they go if they are li ion setup with buc puc they will just turn off.

I was wondering this as well because we will be moving back to Ohio next week, but I just thought of leaving my batteries out of my saber and charger this time so they don't get messed up like before.

Re^^^^

I was going to try this.. I've charged the LI-Ions to full charge.. then played with the saber for a bit and taken out the batteries and put in a pouch all safe.. What would happen if I keep doing this? and charge when they get dim or saber just powers off?

Is the constant in and out of the batteries ok? I'm using the saber EVERY day.. I can't get enough of it, so these will only ever be dormant for around 12 hours.. myself and my wife, just don't like the idea of leaving the charger constantly on..

Any help/advice is appreciated!

I don't see why you should encounter problems. Idle discharge of Li-Ions is very very low, it takes months to drain them that way. Just be sure to charge them as soon as your saber powers off to prevent damage to the batteries.

I would rather worry about the battery pack and the wires, the stress of the constant pull-and-push can lead to either broken wires or a broken battery pack. I've not come across such failures so far (which shows the sturdiness of the parts and the professional manufacturing process), but I wouldn't consider it impossible.
