Had some extra leather (not sure what kind. I like to think it's human) laying around from an old project (Boot jack) don't ask) I'm a metal neck). Now I'm by no means a leather smith. I just simply don't have enough since to know I CAN'T do something.
Cutting holes for switch, and covertec wheel is rather tricky. It's not a good idea to make the hole perfectly round since the grip will be stretched during final lacing.. You are sooo on your own on this one.
My leather was a little on the cardboard looking side. So I rubbed it down with some olive oil to darken/richen the shade a bit.
Then with some 2mm dark brown Greek leather cord (round), I laced it up from emitter to pommel. Slowly getting it tighter, and tighter. Being careful not to pull too tight at any given point. So as not to break through the lace holes. And..BOOM! That should keep your tongue from sticking to it in the winter if you decide to lick it when it's froze. So embarrassing.
