Any tips on reverse grip practice?  Im frustrated bad here.  Alls I can manage to do is the basic X-flourish but whenever I try say an eclipse(Obi-Ani) or a plum flower.... my goodness I get all tied up!  Ive watched Darth Cephauls and Ventorous who are both great teachers and have helped me immensly but neither one does it slow enough for me to see the hand positions at each stage.  I know that Cephalus says to pretend that the blade is coming out of the pommel and then just do what you "normally" would.  I can eclipse spin with the best of them but Ill be damned if thats all there is to it!

I need a video that goes step by step....slowly.  This is driving me bonkers..... Cheesy

Thanks!!!

put your grip in the middle of a staff and start there. That's how I teach everyone that works with me. Teaches reverse grip and standard all at the same time. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast

I hear ya. I can (somewhat) spin a lightsaber, but arthritis is starting to creep into my life, so fast spinning is beyond me most days. Anything past that is too much like pain.

This is one of my " paths " of Basic Training I use depending on that students particular goal. If the Little flower.....A.k.A. the Obi-Ani is the primary goal, I take them down this path.

Apologies for the glare. Im actually working with a group from FullSail and we are building a small little stage with a backdrop from some combat tutorials I have in the works. Flourishing will be included.

Once you get these simple drills down, go check out my Little Flower/Obi Ani angles of attack video for ways to functionalize it. There are definitely plenty of resources to reference though. Not just my own.
Hope this helps. Grab a staff because it teaches standard and reverse grip at the same time.

Always a little gift to watch someone with a martial background handling a staff. Thank you for sharing.  *respectful martial bow*

Am I correct when remembering you have a Kali background?

I just watched your double levisaber video on Instagram and thought of the same question. Thank you for making this. Especially with all the little hints and tips you mentioned while talking. And always fun to hear someones voice after all the 'silent' music videos.

Again thanks for sharing, added it to my DIY-future-projects-playlist.

It would be pretty fun to play with a levisaber in the gym/classroom you have there, and I would love to see it. As for hearing my voice, you get to again, for I did a quick video on tosses and offhand use for Miss Goodfellow.  Sidenote, turns out I'm starting to want to unpack all the things I've learned over the years. I think a video series shall be in order in the near future.  I'm gonna have plenty of time on my hands for the foreseeable future.
