Ok lets go down the list.  For sound you can get it equipped with just the Obsidian soundboard for $75, or pay $100 for the Obsidian board PLUS a light up switch (in blue, red, or green).  The "pommel version" is just an aesthetic thing, the Li-Ion setup is a battery option that is highly recommended by Ultra (rechargeable batteries), "Quick Disconnect" refers to an option where you can buy different LED units to quickly unhook your LED and hook in a new LED to change colors.  Whew.

For the blade, you can just go with midgrade, it's an all around good choice.  Durable, bright, lightweight, you can't really go wrong.

Ah, I think I understand most of it.  I don't think I need to buy multiple LED units (I'm all monochromatic and simple... red all the way Grin) so I won't need quick disconnect, I prefer long grooves (I think... I honestly don't see a ton of difference between the two), and I think I'll go with the Li-Ion setup.

Except... What does the light up switch do with the obsidian board?

EDIT:  Also, is the difference in blade tips (pointed vs rounded) anything but aesthetic?

light up switches and blade tips are just aesthetic features they don't really do much of any thing else  Smiley

Big Boss hit the nail on the head:  the light up switch is pretty damn cool, but that's literally all it does - it lights up when the saber is on.  The tip is aesthetic, but I always recommend the rounded tip.  Less lead time, less money, and much safer.  I have a blade with a pointed tip that I generally don't like to use because you can actually hurt people poking them with it... since I stab frequently this isn't something I want to do.

Spiffy, so I'll go with no colored lights and a rounded tip, then.

I'll get  a red blade, a black blade holder, mid grade, red button, a sound board with no colored lights, long grooves, no quick disconnect, a round tip, and no screw wrench, for myself.
For my friend, I'll get a blue blade, a silver holder, mid grade, blue button, a sound board with no colored lights, short grooves, no quick disconnect, a round tip, and no screw wrench.

Now I just need $350 for the two of them... this is a tad over my original budget... I'm not sure if I can afford to get two of these things Sad.

Right... save up money for renting an apartment, or buy cool lightsabers...  Tongue
Meh, I'll see how much money I can make with a job on campus (if I can get one).  Maybe I'll even liquidate some of my more useless assets (ie, the Bag of Unwanted Gifts).

I'm doing up some good savings for several lightsabers right now. What I'm doing is just taking fifty bucks out of each of my checks until I get my goal. Once you get a job just follow that idea and you will be set.

Lightside Points Are Appreciated

You also get reward points for your purchases. I believe you get 10% ($1 for every $10) of what you spend in the store as a credit. So let's say you spend $350, you would have $35 credit on a future purchase of sabers or accessories.

It's really not a Billy Mays ad until you throw in the special bonus at the end of the commercial.

$350 WITH THOSE OTHER GUYS GETS YOU ONE LIGHTSABER AND SOMETIMES THE CRAFTSMANSHIP JUST ISN'T UP TO PAR!!! WITH ULTRASABERS, YOUR $350 YOU GET NOT ONE, BUT TWO BATTLE QUALITY LIGHTSABERS WITH A DURABLE SOUND BOARD!!! AND IF YOU BUY RIGHT NOW, I'LL GIVE YOU BACK 10% OF YOUR TOTAL PURCHASE TO USE ON ANY OF THE PRODUCTS WE SELL!!! HERE'S HOW TO ORDER!!!

Now how is that for channeling Billy Mays?
