Why choose a side?

So, I started with some basic use damage, and some weathering... Down side of my "abuse" to the hilt, is the aluminum cracked a bit down near the pommel end, but this works well for me, as it gives the saber a bit of a bend, and adds to the "I've seen battle" feel I wanted... In the next week or two, I plan to order my blade, and the Raven SS claw, as well as a blade plug perhaps. I will also be tracking down leather for a wrap on the grip, which will get some use wear, minor scorching, and other small bits of attention. This is my first saber, so a lot of this is trial and error on my part, and I am well aware that I could potentially do serious harm to the saber if I'm not careful. But then, I know this isn't going to be my only saber, so... why not learn and enjoy it?    |

Part of my process was dropping it, and letting it go skidding across the parking lot where I work...
The crack came for one of these drops, and came up at a thin spot in the aluminum... Where one of the polished grooves, lined up with the change of the aluminum's thickness on the inside for the battery holder. The crack is 1/3rd the circumference of the hilt, but I will reinforce/patch it before I apply the leather wrap, so it will be stable and hidden.
The rest of my weathering came from sanding down the powder-coating, and applying a flat black primer, then letting it wear off in my hands. I also removed all the internals before I started, so I didn't risk damaging the LED module or switch.

Blade and claw ordered! Waiting for shipping info, and the added info for my second saber...
I broke down and ordered a second grab bag saber, completely random this time, with a blade... So we'll see if the Force is with me on this one.
Will also be good to have a second as I am a fan of dual saber combat choreography and dueling. I've been challenged to a duel with a local friend... Loser buys pizza :p
