I got bored of the suede strip wrap on my DSI, and a quick look into my project box reminded me of what I'd originally planned to put on my DSI hilt.
I give you... the Brawler! A grip wrap meant more for one-handed techniques and lots of aggressive attacks.
A piece of faux leather, laced with... 3mm, I think, leather cord. Could have done a better job of it, but it was more a proof-of-concept than anything.
The faux leather is terrific. It's grippier than the bare hilt, looks nice and is surprisingly comfortable.
The 3mm cord is too thick to be comfortable when using the saber. Can't recommend using it anywhere you actually want to hold.
Considering all I had to do it with was a pocket knife, it turned out pretty well. I'm going to have to redo it with a better lacing material, probably suede strip, and punch some more holes so it looks better.
Still a great grip wrap in concept, though.
