I want to order to sabers for my wife and myself. But we were wanting to add sound later on down the road. I know it'll be a little more pricey doing this method, that's not my concern.

I have some knowledge of electrician work, so here are my two primary questions:
1. Is the obsidian v3 difficult to wire? I've seen the diagrams for a v2 but not a v3.
2. Is a momentary switch absolutely required or is that optional?

I already know that I'll have to get the knew battery pack with the speaker integrated to the underside, but I was just wondering if I'd also have to replace the switch as well.

Response from a Saber specialist would be greatly appreciated before my order

Hello,

It comes pre-wired, so all you need to do is make the correct connections.  The best method is to solder the joints & shrink wrap them.

If you have never used a soldering iron, you may wish to have UltraSabers do it - especially since it won't be warrantied if you DIY.

Yes, an AV switch is definitely required.  I put a latching one in one time just to see what it would do.  The saber activates and then immediately powers off with the switch latched.

Lastly, the hole that is drilled for the guarded switch on a stunt saber is not big enough to accomodate an AV switch, so you'd need to widen it.  The best way to do that without accidentally scratching your hilt is to use a drill press.

Hope this info helps your decision.

Winning? Is that what you think it's about? I'm not trying to win. I'm not doing this because I want to beat someone, or because I hate someone, or because I want to blame someone. It's not because it's fun. God knows it's not because it's easy. It's not even because it works, because it hardly ever does. I do what I do because it's right! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind! It's just that. Just kind.

You don't need a momentary AV switch, a plastic guarded momentary switch would work the same - the switch style is not important for functionality, only for the look of the saber Wink

I'm assuming you've installed these. My final question is how do you remove the latching Button? I have my saber,  but don't want to pull it and screw up.  I can see all the wires and I'm 100%  sure I can do  the wiring whenever I get the soundboard and speaker.  I Just dont know  for sure how to get the switch off

The best way to do that is this:

1) Protect the switch area with some layers of masking tape, you don't want scratches and dents on your hilt.
2) Use a flat screwdriver as a lever to remove the switch from the hole and then cut the wires soldered to it.

Did you need to add a resistor to the sound board wiring?  Or just wire the battery pack straight to the sound board + and - ??
