Watch out. To say it's bloody is an understatement.
Yeah, I just IMDB'd it. Not something to watch this year at least.

Good question. It is R. So possibly a couple years.

Add Sin City to your list while you're at it.

I thought you were old enough to see R rated movies? Add Sin City to your list while you're at it.
^^^ Most definitely this. I would also say Starship Troopers needs to be on that list

No. If you're referring to the Hobbit that was an exception as my dad watched it first and decided it was fine and that he wouldn't rate it R Add Sin City to your list while you're at it.
That one looks more than twice as bad in terms of content

R ratings are so broad. If it helps, 300 was rated 15 in the UK. The Hobbit was rated R? That surprises me.

I'd give that a meh. That one looks more than twice as bad in terms of content
The content is a bit extreme, but the story and visual effects more than make it a worth while viewing. The Hobbit was rated R? That surprises me.
I believe the Bot5A took an R-rating for violence.

Starship Troopers is like The Fifth Element in that people either love it or find it meh. Personally I love Starship Troopers. Paul Verhoeven at his satirical best. The content is a bit extreme, but the story and visual effects more than make it a worth while viewing.

Really? I thought the Hobbit movies were pretty much the same content wise as the LOTR movies and the LOTR were PG-13. Ah well.

He meant Sin City. The only Hobbit film rated R is the extended edition of the Battle of Five Armies

Oh. My bad. Then yes, the violence and content is quite graphic. However, if you aren't able to watch Sin City, it was originally a set of graphic novels, so you could read those first. It will prepare you for the visual style of the movie too as they quite faithfully transferred the look of the comics to the big screen.

I may have to give it another try. But it produced too much of a visceral response from me to really be enjoyed. Although Dina Meyer always brings a smile to my face. You would say the violence in 300 was extreme?

I agree with you about Dina Meyer. And Denise Richards too. And Neil Patrick Harris and the Kurgen for good measure. I saw it twice at the cinema when it first came out and own it on dvd. I love the whole satirical propaganda subtext, phallic ships and general OTT tone. And, finally, it has the legend that is Michael Ironside. No, the violence in Sin City.
Yeah, got that. My mistake.

Richards is nice to look at, but does nothing for me. She comes across as a walking cliché.

But remember, Christmas doesn't come just once a year! She isn't a great actress though. In fact the only movie she has been in that I thought she was any good was Wild Things.
