Lightside Points Are Appreciated

« on: September 18, 2011, 06:57:14 AM »

I was looking at the Archon V2 (praying for an LE model) and I'd like to know if the extension under the emitter could be removed so the emitter could be coupled directly to the hilt in a lower position? What I had in mind was possibly using this double male threaded connector in place of the extension: http://www.ultrasabers.com/Double-ended-male-threaded-connector-style-1-P127.aspx

I'm hoping that it would bring the emitter right down onto the hilt. Is it the right part for what I want, or can someone show me something that would work better?

I made up an example of what I am looking to do with the Archon if I get it.

Lets say the hilt is the Archon. Then there would be the double threaded male connector. Then the emitter. Would this work?

No, you'll need a double female section.  Your emitter has a male and and you're pairing it to a double male connector.  They will just need a double female to work.

I think the example I made might have confused the question. If you look at the example as if it is the Archon itself, the emitter and hilt are both female. The saber builder thing doesn't have female emitters so I used what they had. With that in mind, would the shorter male connector work to bring the emitter to the hilt? I mostly want to know which connector will bring them closest together. Kind of like the way the Shock has a coupler that disappears inside the hilts when formed as a staff.

So, you want to eliminate the neck of the Archon, and replace it with the shortest male/male connector you are able to, right?

I don't see that posing any problem, aside from ensuring you get the right size connector. I mean, if you choose an emitter with a male connection side, you can eliminate any neck piece altogether, so there's no reason why that wouldn't work.

Yes, thank you for simplifying that. I want to eliminate the neck of the Archon and find the shortest/smallest connector that will attach the emitter straight to the hilt. Can anyone suggest the best connector for the job?

Yes, this would work.  The neck itself is a doubled male ended connecter.  So this would work.  You could also but either of our couplers with vents and use that as a connector/neck/blade windows as well.

A double female section wouldn't work for this particular saber as a neck section.  The emitter has a female end, the neck has two male ends, the body has two female ends, and the pommel has a male end.  Hope that helps.

I think the coupler would be the way to go. That sounds like it'd look SWEET.

A black coupler with vents would make a nice addition for an open crystal chamber.

Thanks Deep, I hadn't thought of a vented coupler. Although, this brings up a new question. Would the blade fit all the way down through the emitter and through the coupler so it sat right on the LED? What is the inner diameter of the coupler, 1 inch?

Yes and yes, it's 1 inch.
