Well, it has come time to equip myself with the finest sabres.  Yes, that is plural, for when buy one when you can get at least two?  (I have my eye on the Shock LE and the War Glaive, although the Archon just caught my eye)  Tongue  And so, some quick questions for t his sabre neophyte:

a)  The single colour Shock LE is currently out of stock -- is there a usual time for bits to be back in stock?

b)  Looking at the Shock, the button near the top seems as though there is a slight chance of it getting in the way of gripping the sabre -- anyone who has a Shock have you found a problem?

c)  I may buy a single sound board for the two sabres (unlikely I'll use the two at the same time) -- I would imagine it woudl be a relatively simple affair to switch the sound between them, yes?

d) Similarly, if I were to get two different LED colours, to switch the colours/LEDs from one sabre to the next, relatively simple as well?  (by relatively simple I mean ~10 minutes with little chance of damaging the thing Tongue)

Oops, I guess that was four questions..

Thanks a tonne!

Don't have a shock or work for Ultra so can't really help u with the first two questions but in regard to the last two.

C. Highly unlikely. Given the wiring that goes into each saber.

D. Its Possible, if you get Quick Disconnect for both saber then you can switch around the LED(s)

Hopefully Some of the other member can provide their input as well.

A) Only Ultrasber employees know the answer to this question. You can still get the Shock, plus buy Shock LE emitter and Pommel parts separately.

B) If you grip your saber toward the emitter it could cause a problem with grip. It looks to me as though this saber was intended to be gripped lower on the hilt. The button should not affect that grip position.

C) Re-wiring sound boards between two sabers requires knowledge of electronic wiring and skill at soldering. I can't say that it would be easy even with those things.

D) Quick disconnects are the easiest ways to change out LEDs. Only takes seconds to change LEDs.

I don't think it will be possible given the amount of quick disconnects and wiring needed to make the soundboard and battery/speaker pack swappable . It would be cool to have that ability , don't get me wrong. But I think the custom work this would take might cost more than just having another sound card installed in your other saber. This would have to be done by Ultra's custom saber shop when he gets it running so he would be the only man to ask I belive.

A) When an LE goes out of stock, that's pretty much it. LE is LE, and when Ultra runs out from what I've heard he doesn't usually make more, because then it wouldn't be LE anymore! lol I'd suggest get a regular single color shock and buy the LE emitter and pommel separately. Smiley

B) I don't have a shock, but I'd say if you get it with an AV switch... the lower profile would solve any grip issues for you.

C) Nope. Soundboards cannot be swapped out without essentially dismantling the entire saber and rebuilding it. Sad, but true.

D) That is easy! Just order both sabers with the Quick Disconnect option and you'll be able to swap out the LEDs all day long. Simply unscrew the emitter, pull out the LED and unclip the wire, then clip in the other LED and slide it back in, and screw the emitter back on! Easy as pie! Smiley

Hope that helps ya out, and welcome to the forums!

I have the Dark Shock (non-rgb), there is no problem gripping it with both hands.  I have the luminated AV switch though.  The other switch would not be a problem either casue you would just rotate the saber in your hand to allow the switch to rest between your fingertips and the base of your thumb (when gripping the saber).

Excellent, thank you all for the responses and the welcomes.  I have a feeling I will be a long time resident here.

So it seems I’m SOL (Sabre Out of Luck Tongue) on the Shock LE – bummer!  The Shock (IMHO) needs colour/something else to make it truly sing.  Photoshopping the shock with the LE pommel/emitter doesn’t look too bad indeed (and the high polish finish of the LE p/e actually helps in its contrast to the regular body).  I like!  I shall go that route, cool, thanks for pointing me to the parts page.   (Although if Ultra wants to jumps in here and makes a second run of the LE available, I would still do a happy dance Wink )

And now that I’m looking at the parts page I’m dreaming up all sorts of combinations...  choices, choices.   That the LEDs are easy to switch out with the quick disconnect is great, albeit I don’t see that option on the Shocks.  I take it then that the QD is only available on certain sabres, and it’s not just a missing option on the Shocks?  (if so, alas!)

To those who have an Arctic Blue blade – is it blue enough to be noticeable as blue or does it easily get washed out into a more white range?  By the blade picture on the homepage there's something about the Arctic Blue I like...

Awesome, thanks a tonne!  I have serious sabreage on the brain now... Tongue

I don't have one myself, but my friend (known on this forum as Master Artorius Vidnyl) does and I have seen it in person several times.  I will go ahead and say it's pretty much like the color picture on the main US page, that lighter icy blue.  Not particularly washed out, just a noticably lighter shade than the Guardian Blue.  It's a very very nice color, and if you're coveting it like you say you are I would say go for it!

Oh and you're not the only one hoping for the return of the LE Shock, in fact I was hoping for a single color Dark Shock (that model pretty much came and went around the same time as the LE) at some point.  We shall see...

This is my Aeon in Arctic Blue taken by my cell phone camera. In person I agree with Nero, it is a nice icy blue.
