OK, I'm crafting a story set during the Empire period, specifically at the time of the 1st Battle of Yavin.  I'm trying to link it to what I know was going on, but without directly interacting with anything canon or expanded universe.

Yeah.  Daunting.

But here's my boggle:  I had misinterpreted the "Knights of the Empire" when I read about them.  I thought they were force-users who worked for Palpatine.  WRONG.
So, outside of Vader and the Inquisitor from the TV Rebels cartoon, who hunted Jedi in the Empire?  Would it have just been up to Storm Troopers?  OR were there more Inquisitors?

Or is it all murky and I can use some creative license?  :-)

Looking for input.  Thanks!

According to current canon:

The Inquisitorius were the Galactic Empire's Jedi Hunters, trained by Darth Vader to use the dark side of the Force and to wield double-bladed spinning lightsabers as they assisted in the extermination of the Jedi.

Legends:

No specific background was common among Jedi hunters; they came from diverse upbringings and species.

Numerous Jedi hunters were Force-sensitives themselves. The majority of Force-using Jedi hunters were members of Dark Side cults and groups that were traditional enemies of the Jedi, the most notorious of these being the Sith. Others were former Jedi driven to the Dark Side by unfortunate, traumatic events, and, believing their former mentors responsible, decided to pursue a homicidal grudge against the Order. Examples of such beings included Asajj Ventress, Aurra Sing, or the Sith Lord Darth Vader.

I'd also imagine Palpatine put out a bounty on "all Jedi" (ala KOTOR 2), so I'd imagine Boba Fett and other bounty hunters were probably actively looking.

Boba Fett was a Jedi Hunter (both in Legends and in current canon I believe)

Vader at times personally hunted down and executed Jedi (both in Legends and in current canon)

The Inquisitors (I think there was also a group of inquisitors in legends as well)

Galen (Starkiller) Marek (Legends)

And I'd assume elite imperial squadrons.

There were way more Inquisitors in Legends than just the Pauan guy from the cartoon. Legendary Inquisitors such as Jerec, Antinnis Tremayne, Valin Draco existed in the old canon. Most of them were Padawans or service corps members who surrendered to the stormtroopers during the Imperial takeover and allowed to indoctrinate themselves.
