It does look like a pretty fun concept to be sure.

Yes ... and i am very very anxious to test and to "TRY" to adapt my stick abilities to lightsaber duel Smiley

I can't wait to see that.  Make a video.

What length are the sticks / les batons again?  And do you strike with both ends?

If so, it would translate nicely to a saberstaff.

extensions are about 15" and the couplers are 1.5" (I think)

you can strike with both ends, it just might really hurt cause although its hollow and aluminium, its still a length of metal. I sometimes use the lower half for deflecting and parrying, but very rarely for striking

my bad, should've bothered to read the posts from earlier

I am now curious to duel someone who uses a pike while I use dual sabers.

me and my brother tried it. He was duel wielding I had the pike, still beat him. Although it was the first time he had duel wielded and he kept on forgetting he had a second saber

I have the SI Battle saber so a longer hilt, and I am just trying to plan what to buy first. As a taller person what do you prefer? The setup Im thinking about is 2 yari extensions the battle saber and a 36 in blade.
i think my sibattle, one yari, and a 36 heavy is just the right combination. it has plenty of legnth, usable blade and isn't so long that i cant change it up for close quarters defense which is the weakness of a pike. i am very curious to try two yaris, but i worry about having way too much hilt to manage, especially when my smaller and faster opponents break past my blade. i would feel bad whacking them with the back end of the hilt. having the 36 blade is a must for me because it gives you a lot more to attack and defend with. do you have a second saber that you could test the legnth with? i would say start with one yari to see if it has enough legnth but that is just me.

it is a pretty crazy experience, a lot of stalemates, but it is a lot of fun once both duelists know how to use their weapon.

if anybody else has pike dueling videos id love to see some

I also wouldn't mind dueling a pike w/ my double-sided lightsaber.

We are in southern Ontario, so the weather has a bit of smartening up left to do (still very cold and wet).

As soon as we can get out and practice a little, we intend on making a video.  Our costumes should be done by then too, so pics as well.

Bah, you made it sound as if the video was done & just needed to be uploaded. Now you need to "practice.'"

What does MM have to say about your inferred superiority of your pike over his dual-bladed lightsaber?

Yes, we live in Canada.

April's weather here is usually awful, but this year has seemed exceptionally so.  It's been either raining, snowing, terribly windy, or all three.  It has also been consistently very cold.

Today looks like the weather is finally going to be acceptable.

I have only had a saber since February, and MM shorter than that.  Neither of us had held a saber before that, and I'm attempting it with my non-dominant hand.

We need to go outside to learn to use them properly - likely start with spinning before moving to actual combat, or there'll be a 10 second video of our mutual suicides.

So yes, we need to practice.  I'll post vids in the Saber Artistry section.  That way no one will have to watch any non-american content.
